The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Feng Shui

Great book or beginners and those interested in Chinese arts
I purchased this book to help me with a last minute Feng Shui project I was working on in school. This book was surprisingly detailed and thorough. As a complete “idiot” to feng shui, I was impressed with how invasive this art really was. I ended up keeping this book, and I still have it on my shelf. It’s a great reference on redecorating your room. For those, visually-oriented readers, this book has lots of pictures and diagrams in this book that will help you achieve some degree of harmony to your room. Aside from the introduction, general history, and quick how-to’s, there are different sections in the book depending on what you are trying to achieve; and as you go further into the book it gets quite detailed.I’ll tell you, though, if you are not deeply interested in the art of feng shui, it’s not a book you are going to read everyday; nor would you read it from front to back each time you pick it up. This book is more like a how-to manual you would keep in your home. I would say that for most people, this book will turn into a bathroom-reader or something you plop on your shelf for quick referencing. The latter is what I use it for now. While this book impresses to me that it is mainly for a women audience, I would not be surprised if a handy-man or a man with a taste for design and arts kept this as an inspiration for his next project.

When I started learning about feng shui I was reading about the Black Hat Sect feng shui that uses the main entrance and the bagua. I tried that type of feng shui for a few years with no real result. Then I started reading about the traditional feng shui that uses compass directions, flying stars and so forth. Once I made that change my husband and I were amazed with the results. It is more complicated to learn and takes much more time to learn but the results are worth it.

Superb Feng Shui book
I have been waiting years for this book from Master Joseph Yu to be published ever since the last version went out of print. Well worth the wait.An easy read, very easy, that presents this complex subject in an understandable and amusing way. Feels very much like being with Master Yu and having a conversation.

Endlich ein empfehlenswertes Feng Shui-Buch! Ich arbeite selbst als Feng Shui-Berater in Berlin und werde oft gefragt, welche Bücher über Feng Shui ich empfehlen könnte. Endlich gibt es eines, das ich vorbehaltlos empfehlen kann! (Wichtig: Es muß die „Second Edition” sein, in der ersten Ausgabe waren noch einige Fehler.)Hier geht es nicht um Kristallkugeln und Partnerschaftsecken, sondern um die Methoden, die wirklich in Asien angewendet werden: Acht Häuser und Fliegende Sterne! Elizabeth Moran hat in diesem Buch nicht nur das Wissen der Meister Joseph Yu und Val Biktashev zusammengetragen, sondern auch jede Menge wissenschaftliches Material zuammengestellt, um die Konzepte hinter Feng Shui zu untermauern. Das Ganze ist gespickt mit Zitaten aus allen Ländern und Kulturen, um zu zeigen, daß es sich bei Feng Shui nicht um etwas Exotisches handelt, sondern um ein Wissen, daß überall anwendbar ist. Sie räumt mit vielen Vorurteilen auf und wagt es auch, falsche Dinge als falsch zu kennzeichnen.Wer sofort das praktische Wissen ausprobieren möchte, kann die gut ausgearbeiteten ersten Kapitel überspringen und direkt mit dem Acht-Häuser-System anfangen. Seine Anwendung wird genauso erklärt wie die Grundlagen, die Autoren machen auch keinen Hehl daraus, daß sie dieses System für weniger effektiv halten als die Fliegenden Sterne, das System, das die großen asiatischen Meister für die großen internationalen Projekte verwenden. Auch die Fliegenden Sterne werden geduldig und behutsam erklärt, damit jede(r) sofort anfangen kann, werden alle möglichen Charts gleich mitgeliefert, in ungewohnter runder Form, dadurch aber vom Anfänger schneller anwendbar.Aber nicht nur das Wo ist entscheidend, auch das Wann. Das Buch enthält nämlich auch noch eine gut lesbare Einführung in die chinesische Astrologie, inklusive sämtlicher notwendiger Tabellen – ohne chinesische Schriftzeichen! Man lernt hier einzuschätzen, wann einem die Zeiten wohlgesonnen sind oder wann man lieber in Urlaub fährt.Das Ganze wird abgerundet durch ein gut durchgesehenes Literaturverzeichnis, Internethinweise etc., damit man von dieser Basis aus gut weiterlernen kann.Kurz: endlich das eine Feng Shui-Buch, das jede(r) Interessierte haben sollte! Hoffentlich kommt bald eine deutsche Ausgabe heraus, aber wer einigermaßen Englisch kann, sollte hier zuschlagen!
