There isn’t a more delicious little book on eggs than this treasure by former chefs at the very popular and much-acclaimed Zuni Café in San Francisco. Gayle Pirie and John Clark spent eight years cooking, thinking about, and writing menus for eggs, and it is no wonder that these are inspired creations. From the most rustic country dishes—eggs baked in braised-mashed potatoes—to smooth and sleek city dishes—caviar and scrambled eggs—here are eggs around the clock, for every meal of the day, including dessert. Here too are the best hard-cooked eggs you’ll ever make, the most seductively flavored omelets, tortas, and frittatas, and a dish so delicious yet so simple that the eggs get cracked right into the skillet. No need to mess up a single bowl!

With a few eggs in the fridge, something great to eat is just a few seconds away. When it comes to comfort, simplicity, infinite versatility, downright goodness, and affordability—nothing beats eggs!

INTERESTING — FULL OF IDEAS !!
THE DIRECTIONS ARE SOOOO EASY TO FOLLOW, AND THE TASTES REALLY VARY. I LOVE THE HUEVOS, WHICH ARE LIGHTER, BUT STILL TASTY. THE MASHED POTATO BAKED EGG HAS ALL THE TASTES I LOVE –EXCEPT I COOK THE RAMEKINS TO BROWN THE POTATOES FIRST. I SPRINKLE WITH COOKED, DICED BACON AND THEN ADD THE EGG. HOWEVER YOU FIX IT, IT’S WONDERFUL !! THIS COOKBOOK INSPIRES ME TO ADD MY OWN IDEAS. BUT THE ORIGINALS ARE INCREDIBLE.

Cute book, good to give as a gift for someone who isn’t a really experienced cook, but loves eggs.

    Best egg book ever
This is the third (and worst) copy I have bought of this book; I gave the first two away to people in my family who are professional cooks and they love it too. I originally found it by chance at a yard sale in Alaska, and I am hooked!

    Fun creative recipes
My friend has chickens so I gave this to her for new ideas with her egg abundance! I particularly enjoy the basics on egg cookery. Yes, I read it before I gave it to her and now will order one for myself.

    Great little book!
I love this little book. It’s full of some fun and delicious egg recipes. There are rustic, homey (country) recipes and fancier (city) recipes. If you love eggs and need some ideas for easy meals, get this book. I love it.

    Fast meals. Homey or haute.
It’s not often that I rave about a cookbook or insist that my Mom and sister buy one too but this is one of those books you gotta have in your collection. The kind of book that will end up with food stuck to the pages that will soon be a bit tattered and bent from fingers flying through them in search of the next easy meal. The recipes are down to earth simple, require few ingredients and small time investments. But the BEST part of the book is that you’re made to feel as if you got a sneak peak into the recipe box of two great chefs. And you do. But you don’t feel like a dummy trying to cook their food. Cuz these two prove, less is more & simple is best.
