As the busy mother of five young children, Kelly Rudnicki faced a daily challenge when it came to feeding her family. Things got even more complicated when one of her sons was diagnosed with severe food allergies. Launching the Food Allergy Mama website, she struck a chord with parents and home cooks in similar situations and made it her mission to prove that allergen-free meals can be easy and flavorful. Showcasing the very best of Rudnicki’s repertoire, The Food Allergy Mama’s Easy, Fast Family Meals makes it simple to please a hungry crowd. Rudnicki purposely tests her recipes on friends and neighbors who don’t have food allergies just to make sure her cooking tastes like “regular” cuisine. The result is a bounty of delicious offerings, including: Morning Glory Muffins Breakfast Burritos Creamy Tomato Soup Hearty Pasta Featuring Grandma Jeanne’s Bolognese Sauce Oatmeal Fudge Bars All recipes are made without milk, butter, cheese, eggs, or nuts. She also includes time-saving tips, and ideas for inexpensive ingredient substitutions, including tofu and applesauce. Menu ideas and holiday celebrations make this book the most comprehensive guide of its kind-a one-stop resource for allergen-free, worry-free home cooking every day of the week.

    Great for food allergy families!
I’ve long been a fan of “food allergy mama.” She gives more great recipes and dinner ideas in her latest cookbook. We just got it, and already love her gingerbread waffles and meatballs. I like that they are exactly what she says – fast, easy, family meals. We have 3 kids and are always going in a million directions after school. Her recipes are good meals that don’t require too much time in the kitchen. I think it would be especially helpful for new food allergy families as she makes it clear that you can still enjoy *normal* food while avoiding milk, egg & nuts. I love that looking through this book I don’t see tons of recipes I’d like to make but never get around to because my kids won’t eat them or they are too labor intensive; I flip through and she tons of recipes I can make because they are very family friendly.

Exactly what my cookbook collection has been lacking!!!!
This is exactly what my cookbook collection has been lacking!!! When our daughter was diagnosed with several life threatening food allergies we were at a complete loss of what we were going to eat. Eight years in on this journey it’s become easier, but we’ve grown tired of the same recipes over and over for a few years now. I don’t know why it took me so long to order this cookbook!! I’ve only had it a week and have already tried out ten new recipes, all which have been stellar and kid approved. The ingredient list is simple and made up of basic kitchen staples, and the recipes can easily be adapted to accommodate different food allergies. I can not praise this cookbook enough. My only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner!! Thanks Kelly!

The best cookbook in our house
This book along with her Baking book are the most used cookbooks in our house. I love, love these recipes. They are easy to make, convenient, delicious. When my son was diagnosed with food allergy and the whole family had to change diets these books saved us. I am not big on recipes where the ingredients are rarely used it hard to find at the grocery store and this book is perfect. Some recipes are so delicious that even our friends who do not have any food allergies are using them. If I could give this book 10 stars I would.

Making GF Cooking and Baking Super Easy
Not only is Kelly a friend from high school, she is also a very talented writer and food allergy expert. I am not one to do much cooking or baking, but after being diagnosed with a gluten allergy, I had to quickly change my tune. When you have no food allergies, it is so easy to run to the store or to a restaurant and pick up anything. Now that I have to monitor everything I eat, the choices are just not there or they are very expensive.
When Kelly first came out with this book, I immediately ordered it along with her other book. At first I was a little intimidated by the books, not being a very good cook, but I read through everything and got a feel of what I wanted to make and created my shopping list. After finally getting things like GF all-purpose flour, xantham gum and GF oats, I was ready to embark on a mission. Kelly made every recipe so easy to understand and follow that I was guaranteed perfection the first time I tried to make anything.
I have now made some baked goods and dinners that I absolutely love and taste like I am actually cooking with ingredients containing wheat. I had no idea that having this allergy could still allow me to have some of my favorite things like muffins and cookies. One of my favorite recipes is the chicken salad…I could eat it every day! I am looking forward to trying out a pasta dish using Quinoa pasta.
I recommend this book to anyone just starting out with cooking for a food allergy (like me) to a seasoned cook/chef looking to make alternative food choices as a lifestyle change or because of a food allergy.

    Excellent Cookbook!!!
I am loving this cookbook as we have been egg and nut free and low dairy for years. I’ve created my own recipes but was longing for some new ideas. So far each recipe has been a big hit with my family! So thankful to have a cookbook that meets our families specific needs so I don’t have to only go on my own creativity for meals, snacks & desserts!
The book as just as its described on the front cover…Egg, Nut and Dairy Free. This is NOT soy and gluten free, although her recipes are easily adaptable and she mentions that in her cookbook. When your family is limited on what it can eat, you do not further limit yourself if its not necessary! 🙂 If you need to be free of items other than egg, nut and dairy perhaps this is not the cookbook for you.

    Good resource
I bought this after using the Food Allergy Mama baking book for the last few months (we love it!). This book has some good recipes in it, but it is going to be a lot less useful than I had anticipated. My daughter has a tomato allergy (in addition to dairy, nut, soy, egg, etc.) and it seems like many of the recipes in this book involve tomatoes. We are also largely a meat-free home (we eat meat about once a week) and most of these recipes rely on meat. I am glad to have the book, but it wasn’t quite what I expected.

    Love this Cookbook!
My now 15 month old daughter was diagnosed with egg, peanut and tree nut allergies just after her first birthday. My husband and I were at a loss on how and what to cook for her after we found out. My neighbor recommended Kelly’s blog and to my delight I found many recipes that would work well for my barely a year old picky eater and now FA daughter. So far we’ve tried the sloppy joe recipe, pumpkin muffins, chicken pot pie and italian beef sandwiches and all were hits with not only my daughter but the adults in the house as well. The recipes are simple to make, don’t require too much time or prep work and are realistic for a family who has two working parents and the desire to have family dinners every night. Kelly’s blog and cookbook have taken the fear out of cooking for my daughter and brought joy back into our kitchen.
Kelly: I became interested because I heard you were a north shore native, but stayed interested when I found your recipes are easy, meaningful and safe for my daughter to eat! Thank you!

This was the third cook book I bought in an attempt to help me find easy recipes I could cook for my family after my son was diagnosed with severe food allergies. This one was exactly what I was looking for! No bells and whistles, just good family recipes. Every meal I have made has been delicious, and it’s great for both my toddler and me! I love that it uses simple ingredients, no fancy substitutes I’d have to go spend a lot of money on. The chicken tortilla soup and pot pie are our favs!

I was given Kelly’s baking book as a gift soon after my son was diagnosed with food allergies. I was very excited about this book coming out because I used the baking book constantly. I don’t think it’s as good, but maybe that’s because I love her baking book so much. I’d recommend buying her baking book instead and making her everything in it (can’t pick a favourite recipe).
