It’s got a great texture, more “firm” than “chewy”, and the flavor of the squid itself and the oil are quite good. It’s intense and briny in a clean way, not like the low-tide flavor of canned oysters for example. The strength of the flavor in the oil makes it very useful for seafood pasta sauces and rice dishes. It’s quite aromatic so be careful where you pop a can, the reactions of the squid-ignorant can be dramatic.

Lots of oil in this, but the squid is pretty good
I only eat this right out of the can, sometimes with a bit of salt. I dip good bread or crackers into the oil, though I don’t have all of it.The squid is good, and varies in size/thickness/tenderness between cans. A lot of oil in these, I noticed, more than I typically have in my other tinned squid. Also, I prefer pure olive oil, but I knew before I bought that this didn’t have it.This was the best price I found for squid, but I think I will go back to the Goya Jumbo Squid in Olive Oil instead.

Nice shift from the sardine fast
.tasty Is It’s nice to have an alternative to the constant, sardine fast. These fit in well with big omega-3 numbers. The sunflower/olive oil is a good juice. The squid are nice size, but not Disney sized.

Mediocre quality and taste, it is also full of grit
I was very disappointed in this canned squid. Compared to others on the market, also in olive oil, the Vigo product doesnât taste fresh, it has a weird aftertaste and it is poorly processed, lots of grit under the teeth. Unfortunately being a grocery item Amazon policy doesnât allow returns, I purchased the set of 10 cans and totally regret it now. I would like a refund, if I could find a way to process that.Btw, at the moment Trader Joeâs has canned squid in olive oil, also from Spain, which is $1 more per can ($3.99), but FAR SUPERIOR in quality and taste. You get what you pay for I guessâ¦..

Very chewy but very fresh. Taste like sardines, but with a chewy texture.
Very tasty with chopped onions and a tad of your own condiments like mustard, hot sauce, or with a squeeze of lemon . The olive oil in it gives the lemon more flavor to it.
