Customers say
Customers appreciate the low-carb and easy-to-prepare noodles that are a great alternative to traditional pasta. They find them ready in just 2 minutes, making them a convenient meal option. However, some customers have issues with the texture – it’s not as soft or like regular noodles, and they describe it as rubbery. There are mixed opinions on the taste, smell, value for money, and pasta flavor.

goos product
The shirataki noodles are just okay. While theyâre low-calorie and great for specific diets, the texture is rubbery, and the flavor is bland without heavy seasoning or sauce. Decent in a pinch.

So delicious!!
I played around with the noodles to improve texture and taste. Just to share what I’ve found out and it’s a Game changer. I dump the noodles out in a colander and rinse very well. I make a foil bowl for my air fryer put the noodles in and airfry at 350 for 15 minutes. Stirring every so often. You will see the liquid evaporate out of your fryer. Then add whatever you want for flavor. I add 2 tbsp of spaghetti sauce as I don’t like a bunch of sauce. I add chopped onions and mushrooms and chopped up turkey peperoni along with some garlic salt. I air fry for another 5 minutes stirring every couple of minutes. At the last moment I add a little parmesan cheese. It is sooooo good. Alot of the negative texture hies away and the taste is amazing! I’m hooked!!

Versatile noodles to avoid pasta envy
The point of zero calorie noodles is to avoid Pasta envy, allowing you to skip the actual flour noodle base of a pasta dish, while enjoying the rest. Yes, out of the package they don’t taste like anything and need a rinse because of the initial weird (not bad but weird) smell. But they have zero calories and fill your bowl. The key, I’ve found, is to rinse them in a sieve, put the in a container with enough sauce or perhaps chicken consomme to wet them, then microwave for a couple of minutes. Drain in the same sieve (important – they will otherwise water down your sauce) then dump them in your bowl before overthinking your desire for the pasta the rest of the family is having and top with the rest of the stuff you’re serving & sauce. Now your dish looks like everyone elses! Voila, 300-400 calories less. They’re slippery but will taste good & fill you up. It’s really the most you can hope for when the family wants spaghetti.

Use them like Asian noodles!
I was looking for a way to diet a bit while still having noodles that taste good and trying these was like hitting the jackpot. They are super simple to add to a dish, don’t have any weird smells or flavors, and sauce can stick to them a bit, so using them in a recipe is super easy. I will say that, despite the name, these noodles would probably be a weird texture in Italian dishes. Thankfully, my first meal was a play on Thai Drunken noodles, so a bouncier, chewier noodle was perfect. I think Asian dishes that need that texture will be much more successful overall, so I think I will be sticking to that realm of cooking with these. I will absolutely be keeping these in stock in my pantry.

Good!!!
As a diabetic, I have tried all of the pasta substitutes, the worst of which was spaghetti squash. LOOKED like spaghetti, tasted strange and nothing like pasta. This stuff is danged close, close enough that I enjoyed a spaghetti meal tonight for the first time in maybe 6 years. I think I have this a few times and I’ll settle in to believing it IS spaghetti LOL. I’m ordering more. I was also pleased and surprised that it comes in pouches already cooked… yes, literally toss it in the microwave and get eating. If you’re diabetic, I recommend this highly.

Itâs awesome !
I donât usually fill out these reviews however I am so happy for this skinny pearl couscous that I had to say something. As someone that is constantly doing the low carb low cal thing and trying to find more delicious foods to add to the possibilities, I had to try this couscous. Many meals I have had the long noodles that are like the skinny type but a different brand. I had gotten use to the aldente texture faint weird but ok taste and thought this product the skinny couscous would probably be the same just in little round balls. I was very wrong! This skinny couscous is so very soft like real pearl couscous or tapioca texture, and it has absolutely no weird taste at all. It is amazing. Even if I wasnât doing the low carb low cal thing I would still eat it at meals. We will be reordering many times. I wanted to let dieters, life changers, and other people aware of how great this is. FYI you obviously add what you want to the skinny couscous but we like to add a little vegan butter, veggie broth, garlic powder, onion powder, teeny amounts of basil and paprika, and some drops of lemon juice.

Review from a Low Calorie, Low Carb Eater
First things first. The GOOD: This pasta substitute is NOT BAD. Consistency is like an al dente noodle. That being said, the rest is how you prepare it in a dish. I did it in a Baked Spaghetti w/ Italian Meatballs. Make sure that your sauce and whatever else is seasoned to your liking as these noodles will absorb. In my opinion, this is a fairly adequate substitute for pasta for those with certain grain allergens or just watching their calories/ carbs. The BAD: Remember what this made of. This may cause bloating and will probably cause some… gas (Yes, I said it. lol). DO NOT EAT MORE than the recommended serving and do it in one sitting. This DOES NOT hold well for leftovers. Finally, this is PRICEY. If you can find a low carb mix and the calories are not too bad, I would recommend trying one of them first. Good Luck.

All about the sauce
Make only enough for your meal. The sauce or other ingredients are crucial because this isn’t great as a leftover. That said, for 9 calories it allows us to enjoy a tasty pasta dish with these firm noodles. I will buy again.
