One of the main cookbooks in my kitchen
Eggs are wonderful!I have owned this book for a couple years now. My only trouble with it is that it’s now getting worn out! I’ve relied on it heavily to create some pretty amazing dishes. The book is getting dog-eared and has stains and such.Everything from the simple to the complicated, appetizers to desserts and more, are covered here with very clear and detailed instructions. This thick cookbook covers it all! It makes recipes and techniques I’d previously stayed away from seem very approachable and possible – not to mention delicious!Spring is now coming and my chickens are starting to increase their egg production and I find myself pulling this book out once again to create some of my family’s favorites. If you want new egg ideas, own chickens or have access to an abundance of eggs, love eggs, or just can appreciate a very well-done cookbook, this one is perfect! Our very favorite recipe in the book at the moment is the Coconut Custard. The author recommends it warm or cold, but serve it cold! Trust me – serving it cold turns it from just a great dish, into something absolutely sublime.

    The Good Egg
I have my own girls and pretty soon I will be getting a mountain of eggs. I have purchased a few books on the subject and this book was one of them. There are a lot of nice recipes in here for using up your eggs. The only reason I give this book 4 stars is because there aren’t any pictures! 🙁

    Great for new chicken owners
Honestly, I knew chickens laid an egg a day. I thought we ate a lot of eggs. But we don’t eat 14 a day! So I give a lot away to friends and family. However, this book has so many great ideas for ways to prepare eggs, I know we will be eating more then ever before. The book is hefty and nicely laid out and the recipes are both indexed and in the table of contents. It took a little longer to arrive then Amazon orders normally do, but not outside of the point of annoyance. Looking forward to finding new family favorites in this book.

Wonderful recipes plus great background on how to use the egg to its best potential!
I absolutely love this book! From the opening dedication poem, through the restive recipes for breakfasts, salads, soups, pastas, quiches, sauces and desserts, the book is a wealth of information. Marie Simmons weaves a little history of the egg, stories of the origins of the recipes, along with the basics of how to choose good eggs and how to store them. This book is a delight to read and an invitation to be creative.

A cook book with no pictures?
There are no pictures. None save the cover jacket. A cook book without any pictures? I am just not skilled enough in the kitchen to read a recipe and decide if it sounds good. I need to see a picture. I will probably try a few of the recipes while I look for another cook book specializing in egg recipes.

    Eggcellent!!!
This cookbook has been amazing. We recently starting getting eggs from the 6 chickens that we bought this spring. I was desperate for a good cookbook that would provide wonderful and diverse recipes, not just scrambled and poached! I used 4 recipes in the first couple of days I had the book and now I am embarking on homemade eggnogg. My husband refuses to ever eat an angel food cake that isn’t homemade now! This has been a life saver.

    Thank Goodness for Ideas!
As the owner of a new flock of chickens, I found myself inundated with eggs. One can eat only so many omelets, I assure you. I needed different ideas, lots of them. This book provided me with just that, and instead of the family crying “Eggs AGAIN???”, they’re asking “What’s next?”.There were many choices for egg-focused cookbooks, and I’m glad I chose this one.

    The GREAT Egg Cookbook
My sister has pet chickens. When they started laying 10 eggs a day, we needed an egg cookbook. The Good Egg is wonderful. We have tried several of the recipes with great success. Along with the recipes, there are step-by-step instructions to idiot proof the recipes, anecdotal stories, and lots of info on eggs. Highly recommended.

Excellent, essential cookbook, I use this book so often it hardly ever leaves the kitchen. Eggs are delicious, quick to prepare, and cheap – but they get a bit same-y if you (like me) are often too rushed to be imaginative. After serving one too many boring egg-on-toast suppers, I ordered this for some inspiration. My favorites so far have been the savoury custards, which are delicious and easy to adapt based on what’s in the fridge or hiding in the corners of the veg box. Also a hit – Hugo’s Pasta Mama, which Simmons describes as `a medley of softly scrambled eggs and fettuccine, fragrant with fresh herbs and garlic’, delicious and super fast. There’s also a dessert section, soufflés, meringues and custards along with a few more unusual treats. Highly recommended.
