    Very mild miso flavor
I didn’t find the miso flavor as pronounced as I expected it to be but I think that’s probably good, as the mildness makes this a really versatile ingredient that can be used for a million things. The price is a bit high for me but I do enjoy this flavor.

    This is EVERYTHING!
Starting with an embarrassing fact-I love miso dressing, but I’m not much of a cook/creator (I can’t make it myself) and I’ve never found one I like (I’ve tried A LOT) that I can buy in the store. For the past 12 years, I’ve gone to the local hibachi restaurant and purchased 2 pints of thier dressing, almost every month. Yeah- that’s how much I love it. I’ve been a vegetarian for my entire life basically and a good miso sauce/dressing elevates most of my meals. From salads to veggie dishes, legumes and veggie burgers, I use miso a lot. So when I saw this, I had to give it a try!The Product-This set of 3 arrives super quick, and beautifully packaged. You aren’t sent 3 glass bottles wrapped together in plastic- no no. The bottles come inside of a beautiful branded box, protected from damage and beautifully displayed. In every single set I’ve recieved (yes, I’ve bought this MANY times since my original order!) all of the labels are facing out. That says something to me about the pride the company has and the care it takes to pack up this set. Each glass bottle is sealed shut at the cap with a tamper proof plastic seal and there’s another seal inside as well, protecting the incredible contents. The bottles have that unmistakable fresh pop of the metal lid once opened. There’s something about the glass bottle too- it’s a generous size, but tall so it fits in the fridge (once opened) or in the cabinet well without taking up a ton of space. Plus, things taste better from glass over plastic- that’s just a fact. The dressing itself is pretty opaque, beige-ish in color (the sets I’ve ordered have always looked lighter than they do in the marketing materials, where they look a bit dark) and has a wonderful thickness. If I were to make a food thickness scale, I would say 1 is water and 10 is a container of Crisco (lard), then I would put this dressing right at a 6.5. It’s truly perfect in my opinion as it isn’t runny where it falls off food and makes little impact on taste, but it isn’t so thick that it overpowers any bite you take. It comes out of the bottle easy and sticks to foods just right.I’m pretty psycho about ingredients as I want to know exactly what I’m putting on/in my body. Years ago when I started buying the dressing at the restaurant, they tried to tell me how ‘simple’ the recipe was and have me the main ingredient (which were simple), just not the spices. Other store bought miso dressings I’ve purchased have usually contained thickeners, preservatives and sadly, things I can’t pronounce. So the short, clean and REAL ingredient list in this product makes me incredibly happy. The ingredients and marketing materials really stress that this is a ‘better for you’ choice that is wholesome and healthy. On the surface, it IS definitely impressive, with no heavy, greasy or fattening oils and no refined sugars- just natural sweeteners, which makes me very happy. But I feel like they miss out on telling customers how good/healthy chickpea miso is for you! It’s got protein, helps with digestion (it’s a natural probiotic!) and gut health too.So can a dressing that’s ACTUALLY healthy really taste good? Or is this too good to be true?Remember- I have tried almost every single bottled miso dressing that is sold in stores or online. I’m very particular about how I feel it should taste (fresh, authentic, real). From the very first taste of this, which I tried straight from the jar, minutes after it had arrived, I was hooked. This product captures the simplicity of the dressing/sauce perfectly, but also highlights the complexity of the miso with the other ingredients. You get that beautiful, natural sweetness from the miso along with a party in your mouth of umami. The acidity of the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar balances out the honey and coconut aminos masterfully. The nice pop of Dijon and cayenne add just the right amount of heat. Then, the garlic and spices really finish this off just right and make you want another bite immediately. Not only is this a healthy option, but it is, without a doupt, one of the most delicious and AUTHENTIC miso dressings I’ve ever had! There’s nothing like a crisp, fresh salad that is dressed with this. It sticks just right to the veggies and compliments them instead of drowning them out. But this is so much more than a salad dressing! It’s amazing as a dip (veggies and chips) and goes great on a charcuterie board (it’s always the first thing gone!). It’s the most amazing finishing sauce, for veggies and even fish and meats (according to my family, who also loves this and guests). And it will add the most incredible flavor and tenderness to meats (as per my husband, who uses this as a marinade constantly!) and veggies too.Price wise, $11.67 per bottle does seem a bit pricey, but it’s beyond worth it. The flavor is deserving of the price tag alone for sure. There’s also the fact that this is clean and healthy too. Your health is your wealth, so spending the extra few dollars is just an investment in yourself really. I continue to buy this because it’s still cheaper than the bottled store bought dressing (that’s OK, but can’t touch this) which is $12.50/bottle and I’m too embarrassed to admit what I pay at the restaurant, but this is definitely more affordable.Sure, this is probably the longest dressing review ever, but I am passionate about food. I also take my responsibility as a Viner seriously. But, most important, I’m an avid reader of reviews myself and heavily rely on them when I go to spend my own money. So I want to share every little detail, good and bad- the details I would want to read myself. There’s A LOT to share about this incredible product and it deserves all the praise it gets too!
