My wife works nights and we often have people coming to the door to sell something or delivering something. A heavy knock on the door or a ring of the doorbell means she’ll be up for hours having trouble going back to sleep. This would mean I’d sometimes come home to a cranky sleep deprived wife and who needs that after working all day. No one has knocked on the door or rang the doorbell since getting them so we’re both happier. They are sturdy and should last quite a while.

Effective!
We’re a couple of seniors who each take a daily nap, but usually at different times. We make sure the sign is on the front door when one of us is in bed. We just screwed a designer hook that matches the decor into our wooden door, rather than hanging it from the door handle. I suppose a hook could be attached with an adhesive to a metal door. Being placed at eye level, it’s notable, it’s easy to read, and the meme relays the message in any language. If one of us is awake and sees a visitor approaching, we can meet them at the door and avoid the dog or the doorbell awakening the sleeper.
