Bluapple keeps produce fresh longer by absorbing the ethylene gas that produce naturally emits. By absorbing this gas, your produce will last up to 2-3 times longer, leaving you more time to enjoy your fruits and vegetables. Bluapple is based on science and easy-to-use!
How did we get our start?
In 2009, co-founders Eric & Timmy were tired of throwing away expensive fruits and vegetables. The Bluapple Company was founded in hopes of helping consumers reduce produce waste.
What makes our products unique?
The Bluapple Produce Saver combines natural elements from the Earth to extend the life of your fruits and vegetables. VeggieZips and FreshMats are solutions for specific produce storage problems, and not just generic storage.
Why do we love what we do?
We love that we are able to help our customers save money and reduce produce waste.

THROW AWAY LESS PRODUCE: These vegetable and fruit saver bags have special U-Vent flaps that allow fresh air in and ethylene gas to escape. Each fresh food bag comes with a HydroLiner, a soft, cloth-like towel that adds moisture to produce when used wet and, if used dry, absorbs excess moisture. Different types of produce need different levels of humidity and now that is possible with VeggieZips! They help to maintain humidity inside the bag to keep produce fresh longer!
SUPER EASY TO USE: Simply dampen the HydroLiner to add moisture to produce like lettuce to keep it crisp and fresh! Add a dry HydroLiner to absorb moisture from produce like mushrooms to keep them hydrated but not slimy!
FULLY REUSABLE: Wash our fridge vegetable storage bags and HydroLiners with warm soapy water whenever you desire and use them again and again! They’ll act as the ultimate bags for fruit and vegetable storage time and time again!
PREMIUM QUALITY MATERIALS: VeggieZips are made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and they can be recycled with plastic grocery bags at the special bag drops. The HydroLiners are made from paper that will eventually biodegrade and can technically be recycled but should not be put into recycling if any food residue is left on them.
Customers say
Customers like the sturdiness and functionality of the food storage bags. They mention that they help keep vegetables and fruit fresh much longer and are an excellent product. However, some customers have reported that the material is thin and can be broken easily. Opinions are mixed on the value for money and washability.

Amazing
These help my vegetables so much, they use to go bad in a few days. Now with this and the blue apple bags, my veggies last for weeks.

Fabulous bags
I am so happy with these new bags! The bag comes with its own cloth and thus far I have used it for zucchini, cucumbers, mixed greens and arugula! I have had the zucchini for two weeks bought 6 large and I used three today that look like they were just picked. The other three are back in the fridge. Lettuce stayed well and arugula is perfect.

Love these bags!
My only complaint is that the top of the bag will occasionally tear after a few uses. But, overall, they work great. I’ve never had blueberries last as long as they do in these bags. Definitely worth the money it saves on spoiled produce.

Still testing, need more time
I’ve had these bags for about a month now.First, you need the actual Bluapples. I have 4 of them — 3 in the fridge, 1 on the counter. I think they are doing the job but it is still too early to find out for sure.THE BAGS: First of all, they are too big. They are great if you buy 10 oz or a lot of lettuce. I like the bags better than the plastic container the lettuce comes in. The big size is also good for celery. For other fruits and vegetables, they are just too big. Believe it or not, I took them to my sewing room, cut off about 8 inches, sat at my sewing machine and sewed the edge. Cucumbers, green onions, bell peppers, carrots, green beans — you need a bag half the size of these. I don’t like an “ocean of plastic bags” in my produce drawer. The Bluapple website is great for telling you how to store every kind of fruit or vegetable imaginable. There are essentially 4 methods.Loose in your produce bin with a Bluapple (no bag),in the VeggieZips bag with NO liner,in the bag with a DAMP liner,in the bag with a DRY liner.Make a list of your fruits and vegetables and learn the storage method.THE PAPER LINERS: These are thick paper towels and I found then to be way too big. Once I use up these liners, I’ll just use paper towels.Cucumbers do last longer with a DRY liner or paper towel wrapped around them.Green onions seem to do great with a wet liner. The bags seem too flimsy to be usable for very long but I need to try them a bit longer. Overall, I would prefer a really good bag with a slider. I’ll continue using what I have and see how it goes.

This is what you need to keep your summer produce fresh!
I currently belong to a summer co-op and get vegetables and fruit delivered every two weeks. (whatever is in season at the time). There are only two of us so it is difficult to eat everything before it starts to spoil. These bags have helped immensely in keeping corn-on-the cob fresh along with radishes, swiss chard, any others. The directions for each fruit or vegetable are included with the bags. If you don’t see one noted then you can look it up on their website. You will be happy that you purchased these

Don’t buy, do this instead
I did not realize that this was a flimsy zip plastic bag with a paper towel. SO, take a sturdy zip plastic bag, poke some tiny holes in for ventilation, and then take a sustainable paper towel alternative (I bought a bunch of surgical towels [called Huck Towels]) and use the towel wet or dry to control the humidity level of the produce you have in the bag. When you are finished, wash out the bag and wash the towel and you are ready to go again. These are just cheap, throw away bags and paper towels, DO NOT PURCHASE!

Superb money saver!
I’m vegan and 3/4 of what I eat would be fresh vegetables. My schedule doesn’t allow me to grocery shop more than every two weeks, so keeping veggies fresh is very necessary. This spinach was the cheap stuff in a bag. I put it in a leftover baby spinach tub with a towel. It has been in the fridge for 2 weeks and 4 days, and it is crisp enough for salad, still. I use a bag and a towel for mushrooms, removing them from their packages and they keep for two weeks. Fresh kale doesn’t turn yellow wrapped in a towel in a bag either. I don’t throw away fresh vegetables anymore because they don’t go bad before I can get them used. Game changer!
