MWC 2025: Here’s a First Look at Samsung’s Project Moohan XR Headset

BARCELONA—Samsung used Mobile World Congress to show off Project Moohan for the first time. This Android XR headset, a collaboration with Google that’s been under development for some time, is expected to reach the market in the next year. It will be the first to use the Android XR platform, which will be made available to both headsets and glasses.

The Project Moohan hardware is a full, over-the-head device similar to the Apple Vision Pro. The name “Moohan” is the Korean word for infinity. It provides a wide field of view with high-quality displays to provide immersive experiences. You’ll be able to navigate via Google Maps, enjoy extended-view sports events, or access Gemini to help plan travel.

Samsung says that by “integrating multimodal AI with advanced XR capabilities,” this “ground-breaking device marks a significant step toward more context-aware and personalized experiences that enhance everyday life in incredibly immersive ways.”

We were not allowed to touch, hold, or otherwise interact with the device on the trade show floor, but we were able to see the first real-world mockups of it. Previously, its design was only visible in renders. Four cameras are clearly visible in the front of the headset, as are capacitive control strips on the stems. Unfortunately, Samsung did not share any specs, details, or other information about it.

While Samsung’s hardware looks impressive, I’m almost more interested to know how Android XR will be presented in smart glasses rather than a full headset. So far, we haven’t seen any mock-ups of those.
