A great beginner set
I’m not sure you’d want to use these bannetons long term. A firm basket would hold the shape of your bread better. It’s great that it comes with the scoring and mixing tools.

Perfect size bread
I will say, if you are a beginner to making bread I would use these silicone bowls they go in the oven and they are heat resistant. I will say that it also helped with the texture of the bread, making it a lot softer while still being cooked all the way through.

The loaves I’ve been shaping and baking before buying this set have had a really good crust. I don’t know how the silicone would affect the crust but it does! I’m having a hard time getting a crispy crust when I bake the loaves straight in the silicone.

Great Gift Set
This set arrived today and I immediately opened to see these silicone banneton baskets. The silicone baskets fold down almost flat which will be great for storage regardless if you have plenty of space or are short on it. Love that it comes with one round and one oblong, I have been “proofing” overnight in loaf pans which is fine, but now I can get some “cane ring” definition on both loaves I’m making since most recipes make 2 loaves of bread. I do recommend placing these on a sheet pan for ease of removing from oven if you intend to bake with them, and only bake at recommended temp of 450*F, I believe (please check item description to be sure of bake temp–did see it there). I prefer the oblong shape for cutting, but my husband likes the round bread better. So this suits both of us. Also, the dough whisk it comes with is very nice, handle is nice & smooth with a thicker width to center so it won’t stress hand too much when mixing. The lame that comes with it has the same type of wood handle, and has an additional 5 blades. And the other little surprise is that I though it only came with one bench scraper, but it comes with two! A curved silicone one, and a more traditional metal one! Love the curved silicone one for scraping dough out of bowl; and the metal one is great for cutting dough in half, or into roll pieces; and can assist in transferring dough from table to pan/silicone/stone. You get one more little piece to this set which is a silicone brush. Now the brush is on the smaller size, but perfect for brushing loaves/rolls with butter/milk, etc., and the handle insert (to stiffen silicone) goes all the way through to the little hanging hole. So out of all of the sets I have seen online so far, this set has absolutely everything a budding bread baker would need! I would not hesitate in gifting this set to anyone. I cannot speak to the durability of items as yet b/c I just received, but I will say that everything seems very well made. I will update after several months of use if any issues.

Everything I needed!
This has everything I needed for my first batch of sour dough. The bowls worked perfectly! It really helped with them being softer, you can be more gentle with your loaves before putting them in the oven. The silicone brush is great for all kinds of things! My favorite is to brush garlic butter all over everything. The dough cutter is fancier than anything I ever used at my pizza job! Very nice set!
