Great book, very detailed!
This book is great for beginners. It has everything you need to know about runes how to use them and how to interpret their meanings! I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to get into rune divination!

A true practical guide to the runes!
I found this to be a good introduction to using the runes for divination. It is called a practical guide to the runes and there is not much information about the history of the runes or Norse mythology except that mentioned in the Introduction. The next section discussion making a set of runes, a rune pouch, and rune cloth. The next chapter discusses the runes in divination, where each rune’s meaning, both bright-stave (upright) and merk-stave (reverse) is given. One thing the author did was she used the Norse names for many of the runes, but for others, the Anglo-Saxon names. In my opinion, she should have been consistent and used either Norse or Anglo-Saxon, but not both. The controversial blank rune (Wyrd) is discussed first, with the others in the Elder Futhark described in their usual order. The next chapter concerns principals of divination and rune layouts. She describes one-, three-, five-, and seven-rune layouts. I tried out the seven-rune layout concerning an issue I needed guidance about, and I found the result to be spot-on! I couldn’t have picked a more insightful runecast! The later chapters discuss runes in magick, making talismans using runescripts and bindrunes, and ritual carving and consecration. Following that are seven appendices and a suggested reading list. This is my go-to rune book and I suggest giving it a read. It may become yours, too!

Short Concise Book
This is a great short and to the point book. Great for references. I donât agree what the author says about making runes. She says they must be made by the owner. However that is like buying a cake versus baking one. Some of us just donât have the talent of making a cake or donât have the time or energy. That doesnât mean a store bought cake tastes worse than a home made one. Maybe you put more effort into a homemade cake but unless youâre well studied in making cakes it could come out wrong if you skip a step or something else. Also, the author says in the beginning of the book to not believe everything you read in books. So take her advice. In my opinion, you donât need a rune cloth that has to be white, a rune pouch that has to be red. Be economical and practical.

Best ruin book I’ve read yet, that a lot
Great book for anyone looking to understand the ruins and how to use them in divination and spell craft. Also anyone wanting to learn to communicate the runic alphabet. It’s very straightforward which is my favorite part of this book. It won’t give you examples of lofty , wordy, language to entice people in a reading. It’s a very direct, informative, easy to understand book. I’ve owed it several times over the past 30ish years and it’s been worth the money every time. It’s almost like a text book.

Wonderful little book
This book was written years ago but is simple and insightful on the subject of runes, especially for use by pagans and followers of the Green path. (Also, it arrived quickly & was packaged well.)

Get It!
Iâve been consulting and studying the runes for over 20 years. Although this should not be your only runic book, it IS very practical and direct when doing a divinatory interpretation. What I like about the book is that there are interpretations pairing the rune with other runes, either positively or negatively. Iâve included a sample page so you can read what I mean for yourself. The names of the runes the book gives isnât Elder FUThARK consistently. That doesnât matter to me because the meaning still applies. Please remember: there isnât ANY Blank rune. PERTHO is Chance, Luck, the âroll of the diceâ, and the Unknown.

I think I did a review for this book
This book wasn’t my cup o tea. I was looking for something a but different. I read the reviews and thought I’d scope it out, it has decent information alot of the ruins had different names than my old book that fell apart. And the explanations aren’t what I was looking for. I can’t give a bad review because the book wasn’t for me. Someone else might love it.

It’s a good intro to runes, if you really get into it you’d be surprised how strangely powerful runes can be even in 21 century.

Es un buen libro para comenzar a usar las runas tanto para adivinación como en hechizos. También es bueno para tenerlo como una referencia rápida.

Lisa, has spent a good amount of time detailing the metaphysical meaning of each rune, which is very helpful when you need to understand the meaning of them in a rune cast. Another good to have book, which is very handy.

This book has everything you need to master the runes. Due to the book size and price i thought it wouldn’t have any usefull information, but i was wrong. The book is easy to read, the author is very direct in her words (there’s no useless information or words just to fill the pages).I’m glad i bought this book!!!
