Buyer beware…
I brought my dog (Shiba Inu) with me for the holiday for the first time, and after a ton of research I bought this crate. She is 17lbs and fit comfortably inside without protruding the sides. She could stand up and turn around. The wheel attachment is easy to use and super helpful for walking through the airport. The sides open up and give so much more room – she could stretch out fully even with just one side open.I flew on an Airbus and a 737. Both planes the crate could fit under the seat, but was squished a bit on top. It was difficult to open the sides as there is barely any leg room. My dog was fine without the sides open, but just be aware.!!!SIDE NOTE: If you are traveling Delta, or any airline that has a strict pet policy, they most likely will NOT let you on with this if your dog weighs more than 10lbs. Even though my dog was well below the weight limit for the crate and fit comfortably, Delta nearly didn’t let me on for my return trip because the agent thought she was squished. Though I suppose this is more a complaint for Delta at this point… Just be careful. Double check with your airline first. They recommend bringing the crate and the dog before your trip to check.

My 16 lb Cavachon dog could not be more comfortable!
PERFECT FIT for my 16 lb dog (12″ at shoulders, 16″ long body) on long airplane flight. She can stand up easily on 4 feet, turn around, lay down with space to spare, and watch the people around her. Extremely well-made. Very attractive. Expandable sides make it possible to use as a crate while visiting family. Easily detachable wheels+support frame and adjustable pull handle are strong and very durable. I tried out numerous other dog travel carriers and none come even close to the quality and convenience of RUFF LIFE 101.

I think the quality the bag and the design is all excellent. I love the detachable cart, the quality of the materials, the padded interior and the rigid frame that holds its shape even when you zip open the mesh areas. I loved how much space my dog could have with the expanded sections, and the ease of accessing any part of the bag as needed. The only problem is that itâs advertised as 11â wide, but is actually 13â wide at the base, making it a risk to try to take it on a flight without being turned away at the gate. I fly on American Airlines, and the posted size for pet carriers is 18x11x11. Trying to get on a flight with a pet carrier that has a very rigid frame that canât be squeezed smaller than 13â wide puts me at the mercy of whichever gate agent is making decisions on that day. I canât risk ruining a trip because my pet carrier was 2â too large. Thatâs why I have to return it. If it actually was 11â x 11â this would definitely be my bag of choice. I think itâs a great price for the value, the weight, the expanding sections, and the rolling frame.

Fantastic for air travel!
Bought this so my new pug could travel with me on plane trips. (She has made 6 trips in it and it still looks like new.) She is on the smaller side so she had plenty of room. It easily fit under the seat in the plane. She could see me while we traveled with the mesh front, and once she was in place, I could open one of the side panels for even more room while still being contained in the carrier. When not traveling on the plane, I used it in my car. It has a sleeve to put the seatbelt through, a tether, so you can keep the top open, but she was secure inside. She got plane sick when we traveled the last time – but once at my destination, was able to dismantle it, hose it out and it cleaned up like new. It also has a pocket on the outside which, despite being open on top, kept puppy pads, a collapsible water dish, her meds and baggies securely inside. You have to remove the trolley to fit it under the seat on the plane, but this stores easily in the in the overhead baggage area. The Velcro holds the trolley onto the carrier very securely. An excellent, well made product. Definitely worth the money. (Would give it 100 stars if you could do that.) ð

Multiple flights later … we love it!!
This is a GREAT travel carrier for a dog. We have a cavalier king charles spaniel and have started traveling with him (he is a puppy still – 8 months old). We LOVE that this thing (1) has wheels so that we don’t have to carry it through the airport and (2) the wheels/base is detachable so that it can easily be stored in the overhead bin. We’ve taken multiple flights with multiple carriers and it passes their inspection with flying colors. I only wish there was a larger sidepocket, and a way to ‘hold’ or ‘attach’ the carrying straps on the side. This is a minor complaint because the straps just rest on top which blocks our dog’s (and our) view of each other.
