Training and Cleaning Guide

Introduce your pets to the potty tray by using lots of praise and treats to encourage them to go on top of the potty trays. Remember, persistence and patience is key to getting them on board. Use an old pee pad or newspaper with a bit of their urine on it and place it inside the tray. The scent of their urine will work as an attractant and will help encourage your pets to “go” on the potty trays. Make sure you are not yelling or scolding your pets if they do not take to the potty trays right away. This will misguide them to not use the trays and will make training more difficult.Once properly introduced, the next step is learning to properly clean the toilets. If your pets go #2, the best method to cleaning and reusing the toilets is by simply disposing the excrements down the toilet and rinsing off the potty trays in the shower or with a hose in the backyard. Use of a sponge or cloth is recommended. Cleaning agents may also be used to aid in tougher messes. Rinse, Sanitize, and Reuse. The best method to cleaning the toilets of urine is to simply drain the urine down the toilet. Then rinse off in the shower. Sanitize, dry, and reuse. Depending on the frequency of urination, you may clean the potty trays accordingly. If using pee pads with the potty trays, just simply remove and dispose of the dirty pads and replace with a fresh one, cleaning and sanitizing occasionally.Remember, persistence, patience, and praise is key to successfully training your pets. During the training process your pets may have accidents, or not take to the potty trays right away, but it is important not to get frustrated and scold harshly while forcing them onto the toilets. Training is a gradual process and your pets will learn to use the potty trays with the right encouragement. Please also keep in mind that not all dogs are made the same, so the training process/time may differ from one dog to the next. *TIP* – Using treats in your training regimen may significantly aid in speeding up the learning process.

I never thought I’d be so happy to see a pee pad holder in my life!!!
I’ve recently added two 3 month old Maltzu puppies to our home & I’ve decided to pad train them to allow them to freely relieve themselves while I’m away at work. Previously, I was totally against pee pads, but after losing dogs to kidney failure, I’ve conceded that this route may be a good decision for the health & comfort of future fur babies! When setting up their puppy space, I put 2 crates up, back to back. One side is their sleeping area & the other is an area for them to relieve themselves. I initially put a pee pad in the crate tray. Much to my dismay, my puppies completely demolished the pad, where there were little pieces of pad & pad dust in the crate & the floor outside of the crate. I was so worried that my fur babies may have ingested some of the pieces and would get sick from doing so. This lead me to make a quick run to Pet Smart to see if they had anything to remedy this situation. I was so excited when I saw a pee pad holder that totally enclosed the pad, which would deter puppies from ripping or playing with them. I was so excited until I got home & the holder was too big for the crate! When I put it on the floor, however, my puppies took to it quickly and began eliminating on it! So, I had to find another tray to put inside of the crate. To Amazon I went, as none of my local pet stores had a smaller size. I was so excited to see that your company offered a smaller size & hoped it would be what I needed for my crate. When it arrived, I immediately set it up and GUESS WHAT? IT FIT PERFECTLY & my babies took to it right away! WOOHOO!The tray does a great job of keeping paws and puppies free of urine, as the liquid drops down beneath the grates, keeping the surface dry! It is also very easy to clean. You simply unclip the grate that secures the pad below, remove the soiled pad & rinse off the grate with warm water! Very quick & easy! My fur babies & I thank you for offering such a great product!

    Practical & Adorable!!
The mechanics on this were well thought out compared to other pads that use grates. It’s important for the grate’s underside to have “legs”, or raised areas to keep the grate from simply pushing down on the soiled pad and exposing my pup’s paws to it. The fact that it’s raised slightly is just enough so that her paws stay as clean as possible. The color is vibrant, the assembly is 1-2-3, and the unit serves its purpose with confidence. If you have an outdoor hose, cleaning is pretty easy. I spray all 3 pieces, on all sides, with diluted bleach and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I give it a good rinse with the hose set to jet and DONE!I bought this type of potty pad from another seller a couple years ago but if I need another, I’ll be buying it from these guys.

    Durable
I think the product is great. The light green parts snaps in place so no way my puppies can pull it out the pad is not sticking out of the sides. One time a small piece stuck out and the dogs pull a portion of the pad out, but if you make sure no pieces are out, they won’t touch it. I buy pads from Walmart which of course are not designed for this item; however, I just fold the sides which I’m perfectly fine with. The reason I left one star out is because I have two male puppies. They always tend to go at the very end causing their urine to run down the sides or at the latches. I don’t think is would be food for a boy puppy especially one that semi lifts his leg. I would love for this manufacturer to make one with walls bc I believe the quality of this product is superior. My other puppy is litter trained but the walls on his box prevent urine from going everywhere even when he would lift his legs, it would drip down into the box. Overall, this is a good product but would be even better if we could also have the option with walls. It’s also ray to clean. At tes, my puppies poop would stick between the holes, but spray water and vinegar and it’ll come out. It’s pretty quick and easy to clean up.

    Better than grass pads
I wish we had bought this first! We started our puppy with a grass pad that was on a tray. He took to it right away, but the drainage was horrible, so his feet were always wet and we had footprints all over our vinyl floor. gross. Then, when he turned about 16 weeks, he started scratching at the grass pad and chewing it. He swallowed some, threw up some, passed some, etc. Gross and super scary when he threw up a chunk of grass and rubber backing.I sprayed some potty here spray on the grate of the new potty, and placed a small piece of his last poo on there so that he had some of his own scent. He had no problem using it right away. We are using the Glad for Pets Black Charcoal Puppy Pads | Puppy Potty Training Pads That ABSORB & NEUTRALIZE Urine Instantly | New & Improved Quality Puppy Pee Pads, 150 count. They fit pretty well and the grate keeps him from being able to get to the pad. The feet on the new potty keep it from slipping on the smooth concrete. It will be so nice not to have to rinse the grass pads. They smelled like the fish cleaning stands at the pier. lol. I am not thrilled about having more stuff (disposable pads) to throw away, but for now this is the best solution for us. We have a pet door to the garage. with an enclosure around the potty. My husband is home full time, but this way, he doesn’t have to constantly open the patio door to let the puppy out. Plus, winter in Iowa is not a fun time to do that anyway. Our puppy can run to the garage whenever his small bladder tells him to. And NO WET FEET!!! yay!

    Perfect for indoor dog poddy
Perfect for a small dog…we only use a Poddy Pad for our 13 month old fur baby…our Yorkie does not go outside to the bathroom so I needed to find a covered pad/grid that she could use which would prevent her from chewing the paper pad if she became bored. This works perfectly…we pick up her “job” with tissue immediately & flush… and for the rest, we just snap the grid open and change the paper pad each morning…and everything works perfectly. (For anyone who wants to train their small dog this way: the longest we can go without changing the pad is 24 hours…if I forget to change it one morning, she pees on the floor next to the pad…dogs seem to know when it is full of urine. We use 20″ x 20″ pads we buy in quantities of 100 here on Amazon. They are easy to fold under the grid if you buy the wrong size.)
