Alot of Support
This back brace comes with a few options for customization. First of all it’s true to size. I got a larger one to ensure it fit properly over my hips, which it does. The vertical boning is pretty stiff but can be bent slightly to shape it to your form. The included optional inflatable insert didn’t work for me, though. As you can see in my photos, that insert can be blown up quite a bit. When I inflated it to comfort, however, it shifted the brace on my back and negatively affected its fit by pulling the brace away. Plus when the bladder insert is attached, the tubing and bulb stick out of the bottom of the brace. The only thing I could think of to do with it was to put the bulb in my pocket. The insert I do like is the small soft one, which adds nice padding at the bottom. All in all a good brace.

Standing tall again
Over the years, I’ve destroyed my back. Between parachuting in the Army, long-distance running, and several falls, my back is riddled with arthritis and a few herniated discs. I’ve learned that ice, heat, and back braces can help when it ‘goes out’, which can result from something as unavoidable as a sneeze or as stupid as thinking I’m still in my 30s and lifting something heavy.This brace appears to be well-made, and needs no assembly. I like that it’s easy to put on and adjust and uses the latest super-tiny hook-and-loop. I think that kind of hook and loop holds better and lasts longer than the original style. The width is about perfect, but 9″ at its widest, not the advertised 10″.Adjustment is simple because it’s all in front of you. There are no clips or anything to adjust in the back or on the sides; everything is done with two easy-to-reach hook-and-loop pads in the front. And no matter how tight you want it, there is still some “give” to it because the adjustment straps are elastic in the back.There are four metal bones in the back, but they’re inside and can’t be removed without taking off the brace. That’s the only metal on the brace, so if you’re going through a metal detector, you could remove the bones and still wear it through the magnetometer or X-ray machine. I had to use a popsicle stick to pry the retaining fabric back over the end of the metal piece that I removed for the photos, but I guess that might be a good thing.Something very cool that sets this one apart from others is that it comes with three accessories. The first is just a fake sheepskin pad you can stick in for warmth. That has very little value to me here in Florida, but the second two definitely do.One of the items is a pouch for an ice or heat pack. Very useful, as noted above. And the last accessory might be the best. It’s a lumbar cushion that inflates with a bulb, like that on a blood pressure cuff. Squeeze to pump it up, and push a little button on the bulb to release pressure. All three of these accessory items attach via the same hook and loop to the inside of the brace.Hope this helps.

Very well made
The back brace has rigid steel stays that run vertically and some more flexible plastic stays that are the other geometric shapes in teal color. There are two sets of straps to secure the brace to your body and mesh material on the sides which is breathable. It comes in a cardboard box but also has a plastic ziplock bag for storage. A product guide came with the brace that lists information about warranty, cleaning and how to wear it. It also came with a handy lumbar inflatable cushion and what the website describes as “a velvet pad to keep your belly and back warm” and a mesh pouch that you can put an ice pack or hot pack into. There was no information in the product manual about these other things.However, there are velcro patches on the lumbar cushion and the mesh pouch and the velvet pad and the brace itself only accepts velcro attachments on one side and that is the inside (against your back) part of the brace. I put the lumbar cushion on the inside with the wide part down (cord for the hand pump coming out the end toward your tail bone) and used the hand pump to pump up the cushion. This works really well. When you want to let air out, just push in on the valve at the top of the pump.The other two parts (mesh pouch) and velvet pad, also would stick to the inside of the brace, but be careful about the mesh pouch as the heat or cold will be close to your skin and tied in very tightly.All in all a very well made product and with a WIDE range of sizes.

This is an excellent back brace for both therapeutic and casual use. It’s very well-made, easy to adjust, quite comfortable, and provides great support. The added air pillow and pouch for hot/cold packs make for a versatile brace that will cover most needs. I do wish there were more detailed instructions included, otherwise this is a great brace for daily wear.
