Pretty good for a dog bucket seat
I have tested far too many of these bucket-style dog car seats, and I have to say this is one of the best so far, but there is still room for improvement. The overall size is fine for my 20-pound dachshund – he mostly sits up in the seat or is leaning out the window, so it works for him in those situations. He can’t stretch out in it to lay down, but he can curl up okay. The best part about this seat is the padded edges (more on that later below). I like this seat for general every day use, but I wouldn’t use it on a road trip, since he can’t lay down. The dog seat fits in the front seat of my Fiat 500, but due to the width I have to use a 1-inch outdoor chair cushion underneath to lift it above the sides of my car’s seat bottom (the sides come up like a racing seat), otherwise the dog seat is tilted to one side or the other. I like that this dog seat has the straps with snaps on the front so you can use the seat belt to hold it in place. I feel that style is much safer than the ones with the loops on the back or bottom. It’s also A LOT easier to install in the car. This seat came with a big orange nylon strap to loop through those snaps so it encircles both the dog seat and the car’s seat, kind of like a giant belt, but I prefer to use the seat belt instead. I feel you could use both if you wanted to. The orange strap that goes around the headrest has a good range of adjustment to fit most seats. There is only one “leash,” and it’s sewn onto the back of the dog seat. I don’t like that it’s not adjustable at all. It’s too short for my dachshund to reach the window (he likes his nose out), so we added an extender. If your dog doesn’t like to put his head out the window, it will probably be fine at the length it is. The clip on the end is a standard size you’d find on any normal walking leash, and seems to be made sturdy enough. I highly recommend using a harness on the dog in the car instead of clipping this to their collar, because if they fall out of the seat, hanging from the harness will be much safer for them until you can pull over than hanging from a collar around their neck. Just saying. My biggest complaint about this seat is how the bottom platform is built. There is an X made of cardboard covered in the black waterproof fabric for the very bottom, then a flat fabric-covered (better) cardboard platform you sit on top of the X. While the X is a much sturdier design than others I’ve tried (others are usually a square with velcro corners that collapses within a week), I still feel the cardboard will fail under the weight of the dog eventually. There is no way I saw to attach the X to the sides nor corners of the seat, so if the cardboard shifts with the movement of your pet, down they go (which is scary for them). Since we have a few other all-foam seats we didn’t like with removable bottom cushions, we ditched the cardboard X entirely, put the platform from this one in the very bottom of the bucket to hold it open, then put one of the 6-inch thick foam cushions on top instead. Most of these seats are the same size, so it worked really well. The foam lifts him up just as high as the X would have, it’s warm and cozy, has a washable cover, and there’s zero chance of collapse. I know offering a foam cushion with removable cover would raise the price of this seat (which is extremely reasonable at $34 at time of review), but I feel this improvement would be worth the extra money. The part I like best about this seat that makes it rise above the rest for me is the padded top edges. As I said, my dog likes his head out the window when it’s safe, and he often rests his paws on the top edges of the seat. Other bucket seats I’ve tried had only a thin covering for this bit, and I imagine that might hurt after a while – like leaning on the edge of a piece of cardboard. I tried to compensate on other seats by using a split pool noodle over the edges, but those are easily and frequently knocked off, and get destroyed by nails quickly. The pads they provide to put over the edges are fantastic because I don’t feel like he’s hurting his paws leaning on them. They velcro down on either side, so I could probably even fit a bit of extra fabric under there if I had to. I would still prefer to see the pads even thicker, or perhaps large enough to cover a split pool noodle, but as they are, they are a HUGE improvement over the other seats. You’ll also see in the instructions that there is a “summer” mode and a “winter” mode. This involves trading out the padded edge covers for a fabric “bucket liner.” I found this didn’t work out since the proportions aren’t meant for the cushion I’m using in place of their X-platform design, but it’s not a big loss. The liner velcros in just like the edge covers, but you can only use one or the other. There’s no way to use both at once. This seat also boasts large storage pockets on either side. I’ve never found these all that useful, but I suppose if I ever remember they’re there, they could hold treats, leashes, “do not pet” signs or whichever edge covers/liners you’re not using at the moment. If they come out with this seat that has thicker edge covers and a foam cushion bottom, I would totally spend more money on that. As it is, you’re getting what you pay for here, but it’s a better design than others with some slight modifications.

    Safe and secure
This seat has some flaws but it’s a big improvement over the last dog seat we had. This one has plenty of space for my 8lb Chihuahua, and boosts him high enough to see out the window. We have it set up with the “winter” cover, and I don’t know that we’ll ever switch it out since the “summer” version seems to be made of the same stuff. The seat feels safe and secure in the car, and I like that the car’s seatbelt attaches around it to hold it firmly in place. This is a good thing, because the orange strap (that’s meant to go around the back of the car’s seat to secure the dog seat) is too long, even at its shortest, and it is loose when buckled around the seat. With the seatbelt attached, this orange strap is pretty much redundant anyway, so I’m not too worried, but it is an odd design.

    Seems good quality
First impression is that this product seems to be of high quality and a good size for a 27lb pup. Haven’t had the chance to test it out yet as my pup is still recovering from a TPLO surgery. Will update after first use. I think this will make Daisy happy because she is tiny and always eager to crane her neck to look outside. This might give her a better view, and so help her stay calm on the seat. Let’s see!

Not plush – the risers can be felt through the bottom & too much strapping
This is a second pet booster seat I’ve ordered for our 54 lb mixed pit bull terrier. We’re using this one from Fielda in a second vehicle we use. My photos show that the size of the bed is great for a medium sized dog, but in comparison to our first booster seat we bought here on Amazon a year ago by AlfaTok, this seat by Fielda leaves a lot to be desired. Both seats are boosters, however this Fielda one creates a raised bottom by using an insert plate with a bottom plate on top. There is no comfy thick padding on the bottom – just a fabric cover. The seat we use from Alfa Tok has a 4” thick memory foam pad that raises our dog up and provides very comfy padding. I also don’t like the strapping system with this – it’s just too much and very unattractive. The one we’ve been using from Alfa Tok requires the seat belt pass through pockets on the back of the seat and also straps that hook around the head rest. I leaned towards this seat because the price was less and from the photos it looked plush but it is not. I don’t agree with the description of “soft thick foam cushion”- you can feel the risers under the bottom. It is also not a “soft and thick pillow”. The very plush AlfaTok seat is currently only about $17 more when comparing the current prices – I would definitely buy it again instead of this one from Fielda.

    Nice seat
I really like this dog seat! It secures firmly in place using the seat belt and has a clip to attach to your pet’s collar, keeping them safely in the seat. My dog loves it—it’s comfortable and feels well-made. For the quality, it’s definitely a great value!

    Easy and effective car seat
We brought a new pup home using this car seat. We usually use one of the big back seat hammocks but this takes a lot less room and is easy to set up. Assembly was simple, and installation is also easy, just attaching seat belts and straps as needed, resulting in a very well secured location for the pup. It can grow with the little guy too, as a 6.5″ stand under the puppy now can be removed to allow use of the seat as he gets bigger. Glad to have this option now!

    Nice and sturdy
This car seat is sturdy and the small holds my Havanese well. The straps seem strong. I like that it is waterproof and the storage compartment on the side is convenient. The only thing I was unhappy about is that I want to use it in the non-booster form (without the bottom insert), which it advertises as being an option, but the fuzzy cover (shown for “cool weather”) only goes down to booster level, so I have to add blankets and can’t use that insert at all.
