Makes great crab balls
I am a little confused about another review, they said it wasn’t a 13 oz can but an 8 oz can of crab with 5 oz of water. The cans I purchased (& reviewing) clearly state on the can 4 oz of crab & 2 oz of water. I based my recipes on those measurements. I made crab balls and my husband said they were great & “were full of flavor”. Since I couldn’t get fresh lump crab, this was the next best thing. I mixed this crab with the Zataran crab ball mix (also purchased from Amazon) and I was pleased with the results. I plan on buying more when I need it.

Don’t expect nice lump crab. little shreds of meat, watery. So far, no shells, so that’s a plus. flavor is bland. Best application is crab cakes– do very well in them. Does less well if needing to showcase the crab such as a crab sandwich or crab salad.Happy some form of crab is available though!

This is the exact product that used to be sold by Costco
So glad I finally found it. The crab is great but not a lot of flavor it needs help. I use it for my crab sandwiches and crab louie salad and then it has plenty of flavor. Every can was pristine condition and expiration late 2023. You surely don’t expect a lot of flavor from a can of crab packed in water?? When this case is gone I will order it again.

I am a Marylander not in Maryland, but overseas. When summer comes around, it is crab season. Crab Louis, Crab Cakes, Crab Tarts. It is not like fresh, but this is the best I can do in a landlocked country. And so it is mighty darn fine.
