Elizabeth Darcy –
They’re Ok.
I got these to use on my cats. They seem to tolerate them fairly well, all things considered. These are a bit easier to use than a toothbrush in some ways, but I don’t know they will do as good a job. It’s important to look after your cats teeth to prevent them having trouble with them as they age, since the only treatments typically used are dental cleanings (which can be very expensive) and if the condition/degradation of their teeth is advanced, the treatment is typically extraction, not ideal for an animal who is an obligate carnivore. That said, *ANY* cleaning method is better than ignoring their dental health altogether. Pet food companies use a lot of carbohydrate fillers that are absolutely horrible for cats’ teeth, and it’s very hard to avoid this.
The size/shape of these is ok, but if you have larger fingers you may struggle to get the dental wipe to fit. I have rather slender fingers and they *just* fit me. There’s no adverse smell or anything and they’re not so wet as to cause dripping while using. I can’t comment on the flavor, but they didn’t cause any drooling or foaming at the mouth for my cats, so I would say they’re neutral on that front. I only use these between regular “brushings” when I’m feeling a bit lazy or limited on time so I hope they help.
