Awesome book! Delicious recipes!!
This book is well written, well researched, and very informative. I love how relatable it is- I felt like Jolene was describing me in her opening chapter about what led to her interest in health and wellness! Also, I’m not interested much in traditional “beauty” books or magazines that focus heavily on makeup and other cosmetic ways to improve appearance. I do enjoy using beauty products, but I think completely relying on them to help your appearance is like putting a “band-aid” on the real issue– what’s going on inside your body! That’s one of the things I loved the most about this book- she provides us with well organized, researched-based connections between food and inner and outer beauty, which is really refreshing and SO much more helpful than telling us what makeup will cover up our break outs!!!I recommend this book to ALL women looking to feel good about themselves and take care of their health/improve their appearance, and men should give it a try as well!! I made some of Jolene’s recipes for my fiancé and he gobbled them right up :). Overall, this is a great book and once you read it you’ll be waiting for Jolene to write her next one! Also – I noticed one review said it wasn’t super useful for those who already know a lot about nutrition and wellness, but after having read the book, I disagree! I consider health a “hobby” of mine and I try to stay aware of current research, and there was a lot of information in the book that I’d never considered before. I plan to buy copies for my mom and sisters!

Fantastic Information and Recipes, Easy Read
One of my newest beauty secrets! While I have always been a healthy eater, I never really made the connection between my food and specific skin or health issues until I read this book. Eat Pretty provides a wealth of information in an easy-to-read format with quick tips and great recipes. For the last several years, my skin has been in a vicious hormonal cycle that I have tried to cover with lots of make-up, but with terrible results. Eat Pretty was like a light bulb turning on over my head! I got this book less than a month ago and have incorporated several small changes that Jolene details for glowing skin and less rosacea flare ups. There is literature everywhere about how sugar and certain carbs are terrible for you, but Jolene’s book helps make the link between a specific ingredient, like refined sugar, and how it affects your body and skin. Even better, she offers alternative ingredients that fit into your recipes while providing a beauty boost. Within a few weeks of swapping out some beauty busters with beauty boosters, I had lost a few pounds, lost several blemishes, and noticed less redness and irritation on my face. It’s amazing that I can eat my way to better skin!

Your pocket guide to feeling and looking better
This book breaks down simple and effective ways to improve your health and your physical features, all by changing what you eat. I’m used to reading magazines and blogs telling me how to hide dark circles and wrinkles, how to cover up acne and redness, how to fix dry and damaged hair… they never talk about the causes of these problems. Living life at the pace we do means we have sacrificed a great deal of our health, and it’s time to change that. My mother always told me you are what you eat, the good and the bad. This small, beautiful book can change your life. I have more energy, I feel better, my face has cleared up and is actually glowing without using all of the glowing primers I used to. It’s not an overnight thing, but each small step has led me to feel good in my skin. I love that the book is separated into each season â I can flip it open in the grocery store and find in season fruits and veggies. I also love that there’s a mix of recipes, nutritional charts, and personal stories. Picking up Eat Pretty has been one of the best decisions I’ve made all year.

Overall Helpful
Iâve been reading this book off and on for a year or more. The language used comparing things from being pretty and un- pretty can be a bit redundant and obnoxious when there are plenty of more accurate descriptors. That being said, there was a lot of good information in here that I have read elsewhere but it is all combined in this book. I enjoyed the seasonal eating plan and will work on implementing some of these lists in my diet. I will definitely come back to this book for reference when I feel like Iâm missing something in my diet.

Very positive and supportive but makes you feel ugly at the same time…
If you don’t like self-help books or super positive encouraging books I don’t recommend this book at all. It has a lot of good information on different types of fruits and vegetables and the nutrition’s that they provide. It brings up a lot of good topics about how nutrition and what you eat affects your body and your skin. BUT in order to “eat pretty” you pretty much have to limit your diet to a very very specific type of food. Basically, no red meats, no junk foods, no coffee, no soda, no sugar, and… a lot more. For some people this may work, it may be encouraging. For me, it ends up being a quick reference for a few recipes and what fruits/vegetables are available during each season. I’m not a fan of Hart’s writing style and I definitely wouldn’t pay full price for this book. I’m happy to be finished reading it, though it was hard to get through the super positive but degrading tone, but I definitely will use some of the tips and recipes I found inside.

I bought this book a while ago and loved it so much that I recently ordered another one for a friend! Itâs perfect for anyone wanting to start learning about nutrition and healthy living – itâs great for a beginner as the book is packed full of information, yet laid out in a very informal, easy-to-read style (so it doesnât feel like too much of an information overload!). I love how each section is divided into seasons, as I am a firm believer in eating seasonal foods wherever possible. I have noticed a massive difference in the quality of my skin, hair, nails AND my mental/hormonal health since taking the advice of this book. Itâs one I will keep for life as I constantly refer back to it to make sure Iâm getting all the nutrients I need throughout the year. Couldnât recommend enough!

I still have to read through the book – it just arrived yesterday – but I’ve scanned through the pages. Meaningful pragmatic information, at the same time humorous and encouraging.
