A Great Resource
I loved the section on the history of essential oils. This book is a great resource for when to use which oil. It explores the qualities and benefits of 10 different common oils and describes how to put them to best use. Combined with a selection of essential oils, it will be a great gift!

I really liked the introduction and history of a select number of well known essential oils. This is definitely a handy book for both seasoned and new comers to the use of essential oils and their benefits. The remedy recipes are clear and straight forward and donât use an extensive amount of different oils. Easy to get started and wonât cost you a fortune to try it out. This is a book I will keep handy.

Exactly what I was looking for – to learn about the qualities of the plants, which ones help with which ailments and then how to create treatments for these ailments. Great book. Reviewed on kindle but I will also buy the paperback. Well done!

I have recently become interested in aromatherapy and have purchased a few books. This one is straightforwardly written and presented and is a quick read focused on a Limited number of some of the most well known oils such as lavender and tea tree. It provides a background on each of the oils and at the end of the book includes several pages of recipes for every day use on things such as bruises, blisters repelling insect and dealing with headaches. It is not the most comprehensive book that I have bought but one of its strengths is that because it is a short read it’s very quick to find what you need if for example you want to use essential oils on a blister. I think this would make a great gift along with a few oils mentioned in the book for someone who knows little about essential oils. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for anyone who has more experience or knowledge though. The only other point I’d like to make is that I think the section where it mentions children and pets could be expanded as it uses the normal disclaimer of keep out of reach. However after doing some reading online with regards to pets it’s more complicated. It would seem for example that using essential oils around cats should be entirely avoided as it can be very toxic for them. This means you should not even use them on yourself. For dogs however my reading indicates that some essential oils such as Teatree should be entirely avoided but some such as Rosemary and clary Sage should be okay and may be beneficial as long as handled correctly. I for example have diffused Rosemary and Clary Sage in the same room as my dog and she has been fine although I keep the door open so she can leave if she needs to. I also wash my hands thoroughly after using essential oils to ensure non-gets on her coat which she could ingest by licking. So all in all it’s a decent Little book for people who want to know practical recipes for use in minor health issues but not as in-depth as sone others.
