Tastes good, 290 calories
I ordered the Banana Bread Bars and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the taste good to very good, the bar is also substantial, despite the relatively small size. One actually feels satisfied after eating one. No discernible “insect” taste at all. Rather expensive, but since I don’t live off them, it’s ok. Looking forward to trying other flavors. It’s an easy introduction to what mankind will have to do sooner or later: eating insects.

I don’t normally take time to give a product a negative review, I just return the product and don’t buy it again. But since this supplier does not offer a returns on their products I felt it necessary to let others know that we found this Breakfast Bar’s not edible. My wife and I tried one bite each and could not finish the bar. May be it’s us, but make sure you are aware that they cannot be returned or refunded!!!

Nutritional benefits of crickets with none of the taste
I initially bought these because I wanted to help along the idea that insects are a healthy and sustainable protein alternative. I bought two boxes of these, however I cannot keep them at home because my husband thinks the idea of eating insects is disgusting, and if these were roaches I’d agree with him. However, these are good, clean, lab-grown crickets.So anyway, I have these in my desk drawer at work and have offered them to my coworkers. Some accepted. One coworker started munching down on it and then read the package later and realized he just ate crickets, and then just shrugged it off and finished the bar. And this is the way a cricket protein bar should be. It should be something you don’t need to think about beyond the fact that it’s nutritious and filling. I keep these on hand for the days when it’s 10 or 2 to get me through to the next meal without ransacking the vending machine. And it works for the most part, but then there’s the taste…Yeah. The taste…The taste is mildly sweet, and it does resemble the fruit that’s supposed to be there, however it’s not something I would eat without a drink to wash it down. Otherwise the flavor sticks around in your mouth, and it’s not a pleasant aftertaste. I tried the banana flavor and the same kind of lingering aftertaste was there too. Maybe it’s just the way the ingredients are packed together. Now this is just my opinion of the taste. You should try for yourself and make your own decision. Maybe I’ll see if there are some savory dishes made with cricket powder.Now I’m hungry again.

Horrified my coworkers
I like to stock some sort of nutritional bar for a quick grab-and-eat while at work between meals. Tried to buy a different brand but they were always out of stock, so went with the Exos. I’m delighted with the product. They taste good and do the trick to take the edge off hunger. An added bonus were the conversations when coworkers glimpsed the packaging.

Great taste, too oily
I’ve been ordering Exo bars on-and-off for the past few years. I really enjoy their taste (this banana bread is no exception) and I’m a supporter of the cricket/bug movement. But I just can’t make this a regular go-to protein bar because of the oil issue. I’d say about 50% of the boxes I’ve ordered arrive with the bars covered in oil. I’ve never had an experience like it with any other kind of meal/protein bar. I’ve received multiple boxes in the mail in which at least quarter of the cardboard box is visibly stained with oil. I have to pack this pre-packaged meal bar into a plastic container so it doesn’t get oil all over my stuff. I want to order these more often, but they defeat the purpose of being a convenient go-anywhere bar.Having said that, I really do enjoy the flavor of these bars and the idea behind them. I’ll continue to buy them on-and-off again but would like to see some changes to packaging or recipe if necessary.
