Excellent value and quality, nice thick blade
This was better quality than I expected for its price. I added and shaped, finished an ironwood handle and this now feels like a $200-300 knife. It was decently sharp when it arrived as a blank, and 5 minutes with my stones has it slicing paper easily. You will NOT regret choosing this knife blank.

The Best steel I’ve ever worked with
As a knife Maker, I highly recommend this indestructible piece of Quality Carbon steel from “Payne Bros” aka Premium knife supply. These particular “Fat boy” skinners are a favorite of my customers. The knife on the left : I used as a “tester” for every blade finish from Satin to acid washed, graphite to bluing, stone washed, to open flame anodizing, copper plating to high heat brass transfer. graphite coating to electroplating Nickel… I grinded it down & started over each time. I’ll never give up on a blade. The torture I subjected this blade to would have cracked, snapped, warped or weakened any other steel regardless of price. It’s a bit smaller & thinner now, but it’s edge is still a durable”scary sharp”. Out of respect alone I had to put a handle on it.. Talk about one of a kind. My ugly duckling “experimenting” knife became an accidental masterpiece. I’ve never had so many offers on a knife that’s not for sale. This one I’m keeping behind the glass. “Payne Bros”.. my Customers are now your customers. Thanks for making me look like a pro.I just ordered 2 more blades by request from first time customers who want Ironwood scales. ð .. You know the joke.. “It’s called Ironwood for a reason” I’ts like digging through solid poured concrete with a spoon .. ð 5 â’z on these. Don’t discontinue them yet please.Respect & ðð»”The Blademaster” in Miami Florida
