    It worked, then failed.
For months, we had problems with our neighbors’ three dogs which used to bark at us every time we walked outside. Not anymore! This devise stopped them in their tracks! We tell them to be quiet, wait a second and then hit them with this silent, but effective blast. They immediately turn and run away! Lately, they’ve even stopped barking altogether when we walk on our property. We would highly recommend this cost-effective solution to others with similar barking problems.Update: It stopped working after two months. The light still operates, but the sound stopped completely. We know this because our own dog no longer reacts to the device and he was VERY sensitive to it when it was new and activated even for a split second. I also wear a cochlear implant and could hear the high frequency sound when the device was working. We plan to order this product again because it WAS so effective and relatively inexpensive. We just hope the new one lasts a lot longer than the first.

    Doesn’t work.
Have a miniature Australian shepherd, could not care less about using this device. I don’t think it even makes an ultrasonic sound. No reaction from her whatsoever. Save your money.

    Attention! Coyote tested.
I was looking for something to deter my dog from some annoying behavior, and I didn’t want to spend $20 for a can of air. The price was right and it sounded plausible, if not completely promising. I thought it was worth a try.Forget the instructions, they are written by someone whose first language is something other than English, and while not totally informative, are highly amusing. (“Attention: Do not irritate dog very often when they already stay quiet or in noisy environment. When the dog bark or attempt to attack you, the effect of ultrasonic training device is best.”–I’m not sure how you get the dog to attack you, but you might want to try it with barking first.)It requires a 9 volt battery, and will double as a flashlight. I’m not exactly sure why, but it’s handy if you’re stuck in the dark I suppose. The device is bright yellow and has 3 settings, which are difficult to see because they are molded into the plastic. The top one is just the flashlight, the middle one is a picture of a dog standing/dancing on it’s hind legs. Maybe that’s for training? The third setting is a dog lying on it’s side, what I call ‘dead dog’ mode. I use that one when I mean business. And, oddly, it seems to work. I started in ‘standing/dancing dog’ mode and my dog definitely reacts to it, it gets his attention and he’ll usually stop what he’s doing, at least temporarily. He may return to the behavior if it’s something he truly enjoys, like playing tug of war with the leash, and I’ll hit it again. That’s usually enough. If he’s being especially stubborn, or if I think the behavior might hurt someone (jumping on them in greeting), I’ll resort to ‘dead dog mode’ and that will usually do the trick. He stops. I’ve even used it at the dog park when a group of dogs were getting out of hand, and after hitting the ‘dead dog mode’ button, they stopped. I’ve even tried it, in ‘standing dog’ mode when some dog is barking at us when we walk by. It stopped. Now, most of the time, just seeing me pull the device out of my pocket is enough to get my dog to stop whatever annoying thing he’s doing. And I threaten him with ‘dead dog’ mode if he doesn’t straighten up.The bottom line is that this crazy thing actually works, at least on my stubborn boy. I try to use it sparingly because I don’t want to quash his joy, just keep him from doing things that can cause damage or injury. (the leash pulling is hell on my elbow!) I don’t know how long it lasts, but I’ve not drained a battery yet. And the flashlight is useful as it lights every time you push the button, so the dog thinks he may get blasted when he sees the light and that’s enough to stop the behavior. I can’t claim it works every time, but it works enough of the time for it to be worthwhile. If it works on coyotes, I’ll let you know.Addendum: This morning I had an encounter with a coyote as I was walking my dog, the coyote was in the bushes about 50 yards away, with eyes on me, another dog walker, and our dogs. I pulled out my trusty Frienda zapper, pointed it at the coyote set on ‘dead dog’ mode, pushed the button and the coyote bolted immediately. So, I think I’ll up my review to 5 stars. Anything that deters a coyote is my best friend.

Product worked well once I figured it out.
Product works though I had trouble figuring out the battery situation and the settings. The instructions do say that but they are very hard to read because the English is so poor. Nevertheless once I figured it out, the sound interrupted the barking at the door just fine. I am still concerned about the exact settings, since one is supposed to be to interrupt your own dog and one to chase away an attacking dog.For example: “Turn the function changing switch (below) to the middle-grade, and press the buttons witch BEAM (above). ” Um, above and below what? Also, there is only one button. And no witches that I can see. There is a more powerful setting and I don’t want to harm my dog’s hearing, but I can’t figure out from the instructions which is which, and can’t hear it myself. So I worry about using it.

Sorry It Didn’t Work for Me
The first time I aimed it toward my dog, he jumped back to me. I was excited that i had found something to stop his barking. It worked one more time and then it didn’t. The flashlight worked so it wasn’t the battery. I took it to work with me to try on one of the dogs that comes to work with one of my co-workers. It didn’t even phase him. I sent the first one back and was promptly sent a replacement. I didn’t have any luck with it on either of the dogs. I returned the second one on May 18, 2020 and still have not received my credit.I liked the way it fit in my hand and the flashlight worked great. It has a strap so easy to carry when walking. It was the perfect size so disappointed it didn’t work for my dog.

    It works! A freaking miracle!
I hesitated to buy this based on other reviews, but it absolutely works. It seems plenty sturdy, although I’m not fond of battery compartments that have a sliding lid. I love that it has three settings. First is a flashlight, the second stops barking but doesn’t panic your dog, and third is to repel dog attacks. My two dogs ( I have three, but one is deaf from birth so she doesn’t bark much. Instead she make adorable little pig grunt noises.) anyhow, my two hysterical barkers are also sensitive to the slightest whistle noise and panic for hours if the smoke alarm battery reminder chirps. I’ve tried other bark silencers, but they also scare them. This one is amazing. If they’re hysterically barking I say “quiet” and tap the middle button. Instant silence and calm. It’s a freaking miracle.

This was a bit fiddly for me to get the battery in, but I suspect that’s more to do with me than the product, and I was in a hurry. My neighbours acquired a puppy some time ago. Nice dog, but one of those little yappers. In lockdown they decided to get another. New pup learned yapping from older dog. Unfortunately neighbours haven’t done much training. If I went out to the bin, opened the back door, let my old non-barker-except-for-burglars dog out, they yapped through the hedge. That’s escalated to yapping if I turn a light on at that side of the house. My temper has been sorely tried. This has worked very well! Only took one blast, they decided to retreat, and now keep their distance. Still yapping, but further away. Fair enough, the product only operates within a certain distance, but it has soothed my nerves.Even if I never need to use this again, it’s money well spent.

Our dog has very sensitive hearing so we didn’t want to use anything too traumatic to stop her barking at the window. this has worked perfectly
