    Works as advertised
My dog is a chewer. I bought these pillows and she immediately started chewing on the corners. I sprayed them with this Bitter Apple and she never chewed them again. No need to reapply, except after washing. This product has been around a long time. My mother was a dog breeder back in the 60s & 70s and she used to use this. It worked well then, and still does. If you’re looking for a chew deterrent that really works, this is it.

    Chew prevention
I know of many people who have used this to prevent dogs or puppies but my problem is a cat! He has an obsession with plastic. This is a picture of my shower curtain liner. There are teeth marks all down the edge a a nice chunk missing out of it. The only problem is I frequently have to reapply because the product gets washed off with a shower but it works. All the pet stores were out and price was better here anyway.

    Hit or Miss
My last dog responded well to this and stopped chewing as soon as she tasted it. Current puppy does not like the taste but doesn’t dislike it enough to stop chewing. Every dog is different but I wouldn’t mind a stronger version of this flavor as a stronger deterrent.

    Not all cats
I used this stuff to keep my previous cat from chewing house plants and fake Christmas tree and it worked well to train her out of doing so. So when I adopted a new cat and he began to chew on something he shouldn’t be, I got a bottle to use with him. That was a mistake. He thinks it’s the tastiest thing since salmon flavored treats! It made him chew and lick whatever I sprayed it on even more. The stuff is great…except when you cave a silly cat like my boy. (Pic of my little gremlin boy in action licking and chewing on what was trying to stop him from chewing)

    It works wonderfully!
I bought this because my new kitten was suckling on her stomach every night. She was nursing around her spay incision (which was already healed) but it was beginning to create a new blister. I bought this after reading the reviews. When I received it, I tested it on a small paper cut I had to make sure it doesn’t burn (which it doesn’t) and I also tasted it to make sure it wasn’t too terrible. I read reviews about other sprays that leave a tingling feeling in your mouth which I wasn’t willing to put my kitten through. I just needed a little bitterness to deter her. Well it’s safe to say this works wonderfully! I sprayed it on her stomach anytime she started and it completely deterred her from continuing. Her stomach is healed, hair has grown back, and she has pretty much completely stopped this behavior. She does it very rarely but just spray a couple of sprays and she stops. I also rubbed it on wires and my fake plants because I catch her chewing on that as well. Completely stopped! Love this product and highly recommend it! A very safe way to deter your kittens chewing and suckling behavior.

    NOT SAFE FOR PETS
Bought this because I had used it a long time ago for my pets, well when I received this bottle I opened it & smelled it only to be overwhelmed by alcohol. I looked at the ingredients and it contains 20% isopropyl alcohol, also known as rubbing alcohol, it’s not safe for dogs. If ingested, it can cause vomiting, disorientation, incoordination, and in severe cases, collapse, respiratory depression, and seizures. Isopropyl alcohol is absorbed rapidly by the mouth and skin, and can produce life threatening symptoms within 30 minutes. I in no way want to harm my fur baby, so I contacted Amazon to let them know & they sent a message to the manufacturer to let them know as well. Bitter apple spray should smell like apple cider vinegar basically. This was straight rubbing alcohol.

    It works
My dog kept taking ornaments off the Christmas tree and chewing on them. I sprayed the ornaments with this and she stopped wanting to chew them. I have since used this on other things I don’t want her to chew and it works.

    Management Took Action!
I thought my cat would outgrow this incessant need to chew on shtuff. Nope…3yrs old going on 9 months. Maisie (aka Karen), incessantly complains about her dissatisfaction with almost everything. Many attempts to rectify her complaints result in continued dissatisfaction and a constant demand to speak with management (me – not the other human in the house *sigh*). When she doesn’t get her way, she gets angry and starts to chew on many things (such as a brand new daybed I bought, new blankets, etc). “Do a lot other Kare–cats do this?”, I’ve pondered, considering my previous meow did not behave in such a manner. Management has gone above and beyond to try to rectify these “issues” that have been brought forth, but, to not avail. Afterall, the manager can only do and take so much. Upper management had even stated the need to resign to the fact that one can’t have nice things and/or accept that anything bought that is nice, will not stay nice for a long time. (A friendly statement- she gets PLENTY of playtime, snuggles and food! She’s just a very demanding, needs to be the center of attention devon rex breed kitty). With all that being said, this manager was not willing to resign just yet and knew in past experiences with others, (albeit different circumstances), this did help curb their incessant need to chew! There was hope! So it was decided to give this product, yet, another shot. And low and behold, this became gold to management. There is no longer any chewing on the velvety daybed nor any other nice things! And although the incessant complaints from Kar–Maisie haven’t ceased, the destructive behavior has! Thus, this liquid gold has been a huge success and the managers sanity has been restored…for now! If it wasn’t for this gold, who knows what would have happened to management! 100% recommend this product! It saves (human) lives. Just make sure to wash your hands after spraying it or you will also suffer from the bitter taste. It has been weeks since I sprayed it and there has been no damage to anything from the product (or any teeth marks). There is no smell. It works so my beautifully, adorable little monster doesn’t continue to eat things that aren’t meant to be eaten. A little bitter taste to dissuade eating non-edible things is better than something bad happening to my precious lil monster and having to rush her to the ER for surgery or something even worse! It might work for some pets, it might not. But, its worth a try in my opinion! (Additionally, I’ve had both cats and dogs – one was a 75lb pitbull and another was a chug and it worked on both of them. Especially when my pitty was a puppy… she no longer chewed up the baseboards, the couch sides, etc). … Just try it!… Seriously, just try it!
