Precise Disarray –
quick effortless meal, good texture, not huge portion but doable, great for hiking, emergencies
Hormel Compleats have their place in my life. I dont rely on these for regular use, but boy do they come in handy for a quick light meal as is, or for use in emergency situations. Basically a meal, ready to eat. Eat it cold or heat it up. Of course heated up is preferred. I recommend trying different ones out. I like the Turkey and dressing one the most, but the meatloaf and mashed potatoes is pretty good. “Good” is a funny descriptor here. We’re not talking gourmet. It is shelf stable food. So it is good as far as all that goes. Also, not big portions. If you eat like a bird, this may be enough for you. If were eating it as a dinner, I would need a whole lot more. So plan on having sides with it add volume. Times I eat it as is is when dinner is a ways off, and I hadnt really eaten much during the day. I want something.. but I dont want snack food. This gives me that real food vibe, and doesnt take time or effort to prepare.
Keep expectations low and you may find these to be rather delightful.
I dont buy them all, and I dont necessarily like them all. But I have a few that I tend to crave, this being one of them. They have A LOT to choose from, in this listing and other listings. So as I wrote earlier, just give different ones a try as you may really dislike some and find that there are a few you really like.

Great For Work Lunches!
I love this product I cannot find them in any of my groceries stores in my town so I order them from here. They taste just like homemade chili to me! Alittle spicy But Good. Great on protein it has 16 grams! Fills me up! I order them very often!

Edit. These really vary in taste and quality. Since taste is very subjective, I suggest that you try several. Personally I love most of the potato ones but I find the pasta dishes to be pasty and not as appetizing. There is a lot of gravy and I suggest adding some canned vegetables and a slice of bread for a full meal. The price is still reasonable but Iâve noticed that the meat has gotten smaller in size and apparently theyâve increased the sodium content so read the label if youâre watching your salt. This is a pantry stable in my short term emergency pantry. Can be heated in boiling water as well as the microwave. Great for bug out bag, camping, or those who just donât have time or energy to cook. Retirees, college students, etc. cheap alternative to fast food.

I purchased the pot roast and chicken rice for my 86 year old mother who is trying to remain independent and make her own meals. My expectations were not that high and I wasnât disappointed there. While the pot roast itself tasted good, there was way too much gravy for the little bit of beef and little bit of mashed potatoes that you get and the mashed potatoes were like concrete. The chicken rice doesnât have nearly as many carrots in it as pictured on the packaging and both were way too salty. I did add some garlic powder and Cayenne pepper to make it a little more palatable and that improves the taste but there was no way I was going to give them to her with the high salt content.
As far as the amount of food you get, it was perfect for her. She eats very tiny meals and often doesnât finish them, putting the leftovers in the refrigerator and forgetting them in there where they become a green fuzzy lab experiment. She would actually eat all of this Because the amount is just right. For a person with a normal appetite, they might wind up eating one and a half to two of these to be satiated.
I donât understand how they can call these Compleats when theyâre not a complete meal. Thereâs barely any vegetables in the chicken rice and none at all in the pot roast unless you count potatoes as a veg.
No shade if you love these, but we need something better.

Sent Me Back In Time, Worth the Price Tag
I used to eat the swedish meatballs as a kid. They dont sell them at all in my state anymore and it immediately sent me back to my childhood. My childhood wasnt the best, growing up the way I did though these were a once in awhile treat for us, as we grew up very poor. My mom always cooked us foods from our home country. American food or snacks was often forbidden in the house. I took one bite of this and it felt like I was 11 years old again, back when I would savor every bite and eat it extra slow so I could enjoy it for longer, while feeling grateful yet guilty that my mom wasted money on me. I wish I could go back in time and eat my mothers cooking one more time. But this, brings me back to the love she had for me, allowing me to become americanized by a microwaved meal, (her great fear) and a little upset that I want that more than her cooking. I remembered the panic and fear I would feel as she paid for the food, unsure if the payment would go through, and the gratefulness I felt that my mom made room for it in her budget. Thank you hormel, for taking me back in time, and healing something in me I didnt know was broken. I will definitely buy this again.

Hormel..had high hopes even the sticker price would make a Dubai socialites eyebrows raise. Sadly almost $11.00 for each tiny package is far too much.. The product looks, smells, and tastes like bad Russian Army rations.. the tiny sliver of chopped, formed meat(?) has the taste and texture of budget dog food. How do they manage to get the noble mashed potato to be both grainy, watery and have a bonus aftertaste of metal? Waste your money on something else
