These instant ice packs are a little smaller than others I have had before. I should have paid more attention to the size in the description of the item. But the bigger issue is that they donât get nearly cold enough or last long enough. I will probably order a different brand when these run out.

Backpacking NECESSITY!
So we do a LOT of summer desert hiking in the Sonoran desert. We do both Search and Rescue (SAR) and recreational stuff. We recently did a Rim to Rim hike in 100+ temps in the Grand Canyon (just over 24 miles with nearly 6000 feet elevation down and just over 4000 feet up) and we took these bad boys with us. We encountered SO many hikers in distress and used these and they were great! Instant relief and a real game changer. They are instantly cold (like ice) and lasted about 15-20 minutes in 105 F temps outside. They are HARD to break open (we had to stomp on them). This was ideal for us though as they lived in the tops of our 40 lb backpacks and got beat up. They didnât break or activate until we stomped on them so that was perfect. They are a little on the heavy side for backpacking, but given they tipped the balance for people tipping into heat exhaustion and kept them from going into heat stroke? Heck yeah these are WELL worth it. Highly recommend.

Do not purchase..the cooling effect lasts only lasts approximatly 4 minutes. Purchased for a trip and was very disappointed.
