I trim our dog’s nails and sometimes cut one too short. This powder stops the bleeding immediately and evidently soothes her nail because she sits while I continue trimming the rest of her nails. This is a must- have product if you trim your pet’s nails at home.

A lifesaver for treating cats!
I bought this styptic powder several months ago as a preventative measure for my two cats. Wasn’t sure if I was ever going to use it, but turns out it is a lifesaver when you really need it! Today one of my indoor cats had a cut on her front paw and was tracking blood all around the house. If you know anything about cats they are very hard to work on, especially when in pain/irritated. I would recommend having someone else help. Best if one person holds the pet and the other applies the powder, but I was able to do it by myself though it was more difficult. I applied the styptic powder to a paper towel to prevent a mess and then forced my cat to step on it. She was not happy and made a weird growl/grugle sound for about a minute and tried to lick the powder off. *Sigh*. The styptic must have stung, but at least that’s an indicator it’s doing the job. The powder that remained on her paw did the trick and stopped the bleeding almost immediately. I still decided to take my cat to the vet just to make sure everything was ok and that there was no infection, but the styptic powder in the mean time made me feel assured that my cat was okay for the time being and wouldn’t continue to track bloody pawprints around the house.

I have purchased this because as I tend to cut my dogs toenails I have noticed that they tend to grow very and in very improper ways. So I do have to cut down and sometimes Nick the wick to keep them from growing into their pads. I hate doing that, but I really donât have a choice because the dogs more in pain with that than they are if I cut them. This product works great and I know itâs not for everyone but if you are one that has to be able to or needs to be able to trim your animals nails. This is highly recommended.
