Customers say

Customers find that the space heater provides good heat output and functionality. It works well, starting right up without issues. They appreciate its sturdiness and versatility. However, some customers are disappointed with the shut-off time. There are mixed opinions on value for money, build quality, and quiet start.

    Works well
My husband used this, this hunting season to help keep him and my daughter both warm in the blind. The both stated that it puts out a lot of heat and that they both stayed really warm. However, please remember to vent properly because my daughter was only in the blind for a few hours with the windows open but still ended up getting a headache and was very nauseous from the carbon monoxide fumes.

    Love This Heater!
I purchased this heater as a gift for my wife, as she gets cold very easily (like the slightest cool breeze). We use this heater a lot during the winter, and she loves how much heat it provides. We go camping in the desert and use this heater in our trailer, and find that it puts off very clean heat. It is one of the few heaters of it’s type that lists that it can be used indoors, and it has not once set off our CO2 detector…In short…we love this heater and would highly recommend it to any of our family / friends. We also purchased the 10′ hose so we could hook it up to our larger propane tank, and it works flawlessly…Great value for the price…super happy with our purchase!

Good unit for camping and heating small spaces
The unit performs similar to how previous reviews explain. The unit works by burning propane through a ceramic tile with small holes throughout the face. The tile than heats up and then radiates heat outward. There is also substantial heat that rises off the top of the unitl (as you’d expect from a burning heat source). The unit is a direct fired radiant heater, meaning the combustion fumes come in contact with the air it’s heating. So it’s very important to have makeup air through an outside opening if using the unit in a small space. The unit will over come the heat lost caused by the vents. Otherwise without vents, it eventually burn all the oxygen in an area and you won’t know it until it’s too late. It works great on Hi, but makes crackling noises on Low similar to if the wind was blowing on the flame or the gas is getting low. Makes me think that the unit might not be burning effectively on low. I don’t think it’s burning rich since I don’t smell propane in the exhaust fumes, but still makes me a little uncomfortable when using it as a tent heater at night. My guess is it’s from lower propane pressure on the low setting which causes an uneven distribution of propane across the radiant ceramic tile. Therefore the top of the tile is continually being ignited and extinguished. To help ease my mind while using it as a tent heater at night, I bought a portable CO2 detector, and made sure my tent had both low and high vents to provide means for oxygen to enter and fumes to escape. I’m also using the unit in the Colorado Mountains (8,000+ ft elevation), so there’s less oxygen for combustion which would cause the unit to burn rich (not all the propane would burn and would be released in the space). I couldn’t find a propane/CO2 detector that ran off batteries so, again, not fully comfortable running this unit on low during the night. My last camping trip, I couldn’t get the electric igniter to light the unit at 10,400 ft. I had to use a lighter to get the pilot to light. I didn’t have issue with the electric igniter at 9,000 ft though. The heater will burn through a small Coleman propane tank rather quickly. I’m not sure the exact times, but you’ll need at least 3 small tanks on Hi, and 2 small tanks on Low to get through a 8 hour period. The units ability to carry 2 full tanks on the unit is very convenient when toting it around.Overall the unit heats beyond my expectations. I gave it 4 stars because I was wishing for a more full proof/safer heater for sleeping in a tent (Hi burns through small tanks too fast, and I don’t trust low setting at elevation due to the noise it makes), the electric igniter issue at elevation, and noise the unit makes while on low. Going forward I will invest in a better sleeping bag, and just use the heater for changing clothes for bed and heating the tent in the morning. I can’t wait to bring this guy to cold football tailgates, and ice fishing.

    Works VERY well
Almost too well. Have a two person blind and this will roast you out in a blizzard! I keep it on low and it runs a LONG time on a single tank. Spare tank holder is perfect as well. Super easy to use.

    I love my Hunting Buddy
I got this Hunting Buddy to take the chill off the living room on cold mornings. The house is 3000 sq ft and they really rip me on natural gas use. So with the heater off all night and 30’s outside, I see 55F in the living room. I have the Hunting Buddy on a 20 gallon propane tank with 12 foot hose and filter. By the time the coffee is brewed, the thermometer by the couch reads 63 degrees. I can feel the radiant heat from 10 feet away. Its comfortable. The 20 pound propane tank, hose and filter is the way to go. The tank lasts me 3+ weeks the way I use it. Propane is $4.50 a gallon here and $22 to fill the tank beats burning $12 worth of natural gas every day.The battery operated spark pilot ignitor is also a big plus. Just touch it and the pilot is lit.The only downside is that anything propane powered puts off a smell. With the Hunting Buddy, the stink-o wafts upstairs where a cracked window lets it out. It still beats a kerosene heater for smell and is less messy. The wood stove is too slow to operate and I leave the house and don’t want it burning.Yes, I’m very happy with the Hunting Buddy and its a step above my 8000 BTU buddy in our camping stuff. It has been 100% reliable.

Me encanto este calentador, cada centavo gastado en el fue bien invertido. Con el nivel bajo es más que suficiente para calentar una habitación o estar al aire libre, es silencioso y funciona mejor de lo que esperaba.

The heater belts out the heat, but a specification of the gas cylinder connection and the consumption at the various settings would assist with the choice.BCH
