Fun , easy, educational. Don’t recommend for too young kids who don’t have patience.
This was a gift for my 9 year old for Christmas. He liked it, easy to do and the crystals mostly did great. Out of the 6 , only 1 didn’t grow very well. Unsure why. Be aware the light up device only holds 5 crystals, not 6.The instruction booklet is outdated. It sent you to a video link that doesn’t work, but it’s easy enough to youtube “national geographic crystal growing”. Another point is that the video instructions conflicted with the booklet. One said “grow in the dark”.. the other said “grow in the light/warm room”.. In the end we did half the batch like the video and the other half like the booklet. It was a great learning experience in experimenting and teaching my son to observe which was ‘better’.The box also contained just 2 plastic containers.. but we used glass cups from our kitchen since you have to wait 7+ days. We experimented which did better in the soft plastic container v.s. glass cup..

Slow and steady wins the race!
Do not use glass!! Only do 2 at a time using the silicone cups that comes with the kit. Yes, it takes longer⦠but that just extends the fun! LOL! I actually let them sit for a week. But a crystal crust does grow over the cup so make sure you have something underneath! I didnât remove the seed rock. Didnât seem necessary since it was flat. Worked great!

Very simple to do. And every day there was the excitement to see the progress. The final result was great. Inexpensive and very fun for the kids

Really impressive crystals!
Easy to do! Crystals are so cool and the light feature really makes them shine! I was worried when the instructions said wait 3-4 days for crystals to form (a letdown for my 7 yr old)â¦.but after 24 hrs there was substantial growth that excited him so much we watched them grow for the next 7 days! Highly recommend.

Great gift for a curious kid
My niece absolutely loved it and her mom said it kept her entertained for quite a while (a feat of greatness alone)The box did come pretty banged up so that was a bummer.

I saw a few social media videos on growing crystals, and took the leap with a trusted name in science for my first experiments. It gave me the confidence to grow my own crystals, do more research, and start a profitable side hustle growing crystals for others. Assembly and instructions were so easy, a 3 year old could do it with the assistance of mom or dad.

Fun for kids
Only 1 of the crystal packets produced a good thick gem, the others did produce (except one) but they were kind if thin and brittle. The base is pretty cool, it is plastic but it lights up.

Super impressed with this company – we watched videos online of what to do and the instructions we read said to remove the seed rocks after growing. Although we did this super carefully, they all broke into lots of pieces. I wrote to the company and explained what had happened and they very quickly popped a new one in the post for us – the new ones have clear seed rocks so you don’t have to remove them. With great customer service I would definitely buy from this company again!!!!The new crystals we grew are very cool – they all turn out slightly differently, but that is the nature of the product and experiments in general!! Great buy – the kids (and us adults!) really enjoyed them!

Mi hija de 8 años quiso este pack para hacer sus cristales, la ayude con la preparación, es muy simple pero obviamente necesitan ayuda. hice como mencionaron en algún Tip que leÃ, luego de prepararlo lo dejamos en un lugar iluminado y lo tapamos por 24 horas, luego destapado unos dÃas y a los 7 dÃas lo volvimos a semi tapar con una bolsa trasparente. Posterior lo destapamos nuevamente y se evaporo mucho más el agua, donde vivo creo y por lo que lei en las instrucciones funcionó asà porque hace mucho calor y humedad, mas durante el dÃa casi siempre estaba el aire acondicionado encendido. Esperamos en total 18 dÃas, el resultado es alucinante y para mis hijos lo máximo. Ahora que vemos funcionó haremos otro. Todo llego a tiempo y funcionando.
