    Great gift and activity!
We got this for a gift for our son’s 7th bday and he LOVED it! He got right into it and it kept him busy for a good hour or so. Every rock/gem he found was welcomed by a burst of excitement! It can get pretty messy so it’s a good outdoor project. I wouldn’t recommend it for kids under 4. The rocks can be kinda small and might need extra help from an adult or older kid. He did the shark tooth kit around Christmas time and he loved that as well. Super fun and recommend it to a friend.

    Very entertaining for the kids
I got this on a deal so great value for the money for me. I think the National Geographic kits are great. The quality is decent. Sure, it’s messy but the kids enjoy looking for all the stones and fossils or whichever kit you bought. None of these kits some with large stones. You aren’t really buying it for that. This is more for the thrill of finding them. If you just want large stones it’s probably best to buy them separately or maybe a much more expensive kit may have them. My kids have done these and this one is a gift. My nephew loves looking for the stones and gems.

    Lots of gems
I purchased this for my 8 year old nephew and it did not disappoint. There were so many gems in it and the value for the money was well worth it. It kept him busy and curious for quite a while.

OK activity-Needs bigger stones and the correct stones
This was a Christmas present activity. We have done something like this before and the last time everything was covered in dust. The patio, the kids and myself. No need to think it’s going to help your back yard grow. We through some pieces in our yard 6 months ago and they have never dissolved. This time I decided to keep it soaked in water in a large Tupperware bowl. It did keep down the mess, but it still took some time to clean up.
I attached a picture of the stones we had in our kit. I can say the stone that is supposed to be sodalite is probably blue aventurine. The agate is one of the ugliest I’ve ever seen. I wish there was a little more size to the stones. You can use the quarter in the picture as a reference.
All in all it’s a fun activity to do with kids.

So much fun and great for kids
This is the third dig kit we have bought our 6 and 8 year old daughters over the past three years. They now ask for them on every occasion and get so excited when the kits arrive. They spend at least an hour digging and discovering all the stones. They are now at the age where they love crafting and actually use the stones in their jewelry creating and gifting them to friends and family.

    Excellent gift
We have received two of these kits now and they make excellent gifts. Our daughter was entertained for hours by this and had so much joy finding the gemstones. We did have to use a spray bottle to wet it occasionally to wash the rocks and make it easier to excavate, but overall very enjoyable experience with this product!

Very fun and engaging for kids
When the children got this present, they were very pleased and excited to dig up all of the gems and see which ones they got. And kept them busy for a long period of time. But, keep in mind though, it gets very messy when younger children try to dig and play with this. But, we managed to just clean it all up by placing old newspapers under the area that they wanted to dig in. Overall, I think this was very engaging for the kids by keeping them occupied and searching for which gems they got. They even got to learn some new stuff about the gems in the little booklet that comes with it.

My grandson LOVED this gift, and enjoyed digging out the gems. When he lost the smallest one, we quickly gave him a jar for the other gems, and he still enjoys bringing it out to show me his treasures.

We purchased two kits for our kids for a Christmas gift and they absolutely loved them. Kept them busy for over an hour or more. Be a great gift for kids 6 and older. It does however make quite the mess but we laid down a tarp in our living room so clean up was easy.
