Customers say

Customers like the dental health, functionality, and breath quality of the pet toy. They mention it effectively combats plaque and tartar buildup, and freshens their breath. Some also appreciate its smell, taste, and product quality. However, some customers have reported that their cats are throwing up after dinner and that it’s not for cats with hyperthyroidism. Additionally, they say it’s a waste of money.

    This stuff works!
My rescue kitty was diagnosed with stomatitis and it was bad. Really bad. She’s a tiny kitty anyway but she lost weight due to inability to eat. The vet said the only way to ensure full recovery was to remove all of her teeth. We definitely didn’t have the money and had to start saving. In the meantime, I researched alternatives to at least give her some relief. I found Plaque Off and thought it sounded promising. After a couple of weeks of mixing it into the vitamin-enhanced broths we were able to get her to swallow, she was clearly having an easier time of swallowing. I added some pureed meat and she started putting on weight. Within two months of her taking the Plaque Off, she was back to eating shredded meats with broth! Her breath was better, her demeanor was better, and she was steadily replacing the weight she’d lost. I’m not saying the stomatitis has been healed/reversed/eradicated. I’m saying IT WORKS!!! No more ulcers or lesions in her mouth and no more landfill-in-summer breath. Yes, she still drools and, yes, she still has sensitive teeth and is unable/unwilling to eat crunchy things. She’s also still skittish. However, she’s happier, at a good weight, her coat is glossy and soft, and the most recent vet visit (different vet) resulted in cautious support of continuing to use the Plaque Off. Due to the dental damage, her teeth will eventually need to be pulled, but she may be able to retain some of the less damaged ones. That’s another drama for a different time. All I’m concerned with is ensuring she’s happy, well-fed, healthy, and remains a part of our family. Maybe trolls will find this review worth targeting but we’re doing what we can for a kitty who’s so sweet and (when she allows it) starved for attention and love.

    Definitely helps to freshen breath
Our little buddy is one of the most lovable cats you could ever meet, but his breath smells like something died in his mouth years ago and never left. He was a stray for a long time, living off the grid in a swampy forest in SC, getting kibble donations he shared with his group and probably fought off raccoons for, while catching birds and other small animals in his spare time. Who knows what made him this way, but he can clear a room from several feet when he opens his mouth if not on PlaqueOff.With this product, his breath is still not the aroma of roses, but is noticeably more tolerable. His teeth are shiny white too. Definitely helps and no negative side effects that we have found. He’s been using it for maybe four years. We give it to him once a day. It seems to be most effective when given consistently. This powder smells faintly of seaweed, which he does not mind as he loves seafood. It’s best served mixed with wet food, but works okay in kibble of that is all you have to work with. Expect some to fall to the bottom of the bowl in dry kibble.

    Vet Recommended
We have three cats with not the best teeth, all littermates. Their vet recommended this and dental greenies to help improve their dental health between annual cleanings. Last year all three had to have dental cleanings. This year just two of them needed dental cleanings and one of the ones that needed the cleaning had his teeth in pretty good shape. So it does seem to help.

    Fresh cat breath
It seems to keep the cat breath fresher and maybe cleaner. Cat does not mind the taste. Also good value as it lasts many servings.

    ER VISIT
This product made my cat throw up six times in two days, when he hardly throws up anything nor even hairballs. He has a sensitive stomach and IBD but I didn’t expect a dental supplement would lead to this. It was the only thing in his schedule and routine that changed and it was confirmed by the ER vets that this was the cause. Please do NOTTT get this if your cat is sensitive to foods or has GI issues :((((((((( I’m down a good $2000 from the emergency vet appointment which included screenings and bloodwork

Note sure if it’s working because cat’s breath still smells
We bought this as a bit of a preventative to help keep our cat’s teeth clean and potentially avoid dental issues in the future. It’s supposed to work systemically by keeping plaque from sticking to their teeth (note it’s made from kelp which naturally has iodine so they warn on the bottle that this may not be good for cats with thyroid issues). The bottle is small, it’s a green powder/granule mix.We introduced it slowly by adding a sprinkle to her wet food and working up to a full scoop. No ill effects at all and our cat loves her wet food so much that sprinkling this in doesn’t deter her at all. We’re about 3/4 through the bottle now and I’m honestly not sure it’s doing anything based off of the fact that our cat’s stinky breath didn’t improve one little bit while on this. But, it may at least be working as a preventative the way it’s supposed to, which we wouldn’t really “see” anyway. So the jury is out on whether we’ll keep using it or not.One con: the little scoop isn’t long enough to reach the neck of the bottle so you kind of have to reach your fingers in to try to grab the scoop. Would be better if they provided a longer scoop that wouldn’t fall down into the bottle!

    The difference is surprising
The difference between my cats’ breath when I do and when I don’t include this in her meal is crazy. Works well and seems to either be tasteless or a good taste to her.

One of my kitties used to have stinky breath, it’s difficult to brush her teeth because she hates being held. I add one half scoop to her food every day and in less than a month I started to notice a difference. The smell of the product is a little weird but once you can get over that, it’s no problem. I don’t smell my cats breath anymore, therefore, it works! It is also recommended by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. I will be buying this again.
