Pros:This product had a soft hold on my hair. My hair wasnât super defined. It did not make my hair crunchy or stiff. It did not dry my hair out. It was very easy to use a pick to style my hair the following day because my hair was still soft.Cons:It did flake. It wasnât like my hair was snowing flakes. Rather, I noticed some flakes while styling the next day. I have multiple textures of hair. I noticed the flaking on the more frizz prone areas of my hair. ( I tend to always use more product on this area of my hair anyway.) I believe the flaking was due to the product being â cakedâ on this hair.Final Decision:I like this product and will purchase again. I will use this product for my âsoft hold hairâdays. What I plan to do differently is to use a moderate amount. For my specific hair type, this is not the product that will bring super definition to my hair anyway. There are other products I can use for that.

Cement hair flakey
I’m super upset. I’ve been using this product for years. They have definitely changed the formula. Normally this product gives my curls no issues. I bought some more this last month. For some reason, I barely use any along with my normal regimen of oils and leave in conditioner. This has dried my hair out so bad. I know how to take care of my curls so it ain’t me ð ð¾. I spent an hour AN HOUR on my deep wash day trying to get this stuff out of my hair. It took oil to finally get it out. I mean this stuff turned to super glue in my hair for the small amount I used. Either they sold me a returned item that someone mixed something into to fill it up again or the product truly lost it integrity. The way it felt when I applied it this time around was off as well. It felt like Elmer’s glue for some reason. Not to mention, I loved this gel because it never made my hair flaky. IT SNOWS AND FLAKES WHEN DRIED NOW. I hope this was just a one time mistake. First their shampoo and conditioners now this.

I’ve been using SheaMoisture Defining Styling Gel for a few days now, and Iâm loving it! My hair is a wavy 2A type, and I apply the gel while itâs damp. The texture is fantasticânot sticky or flaky at all. Plus, it smells amazing and washes off my hands easily. My waves look defined and frizz-free, even in high humidity. This gel is better than any mousse I’ve tried before, and I’m really happy with the results. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enhance their curls or waves!

I have tried many gels but this one is one of the best. Non alcohol formula, does not make hair stiff or dry out. Keeps my hair in shape with mostly natural ingredients. Try with small amount first then use more as needed.

For those liking a thick gel…
I decided to give this gel a try, though, the consistency appeared thick. My hair is not as thick as it used to be and thick gels no longer work well on it. What I look for is how the gel glides in my hair. Is there shine?What is the definition like and most important what is the hold like? This gel was too tacky for my hair, it doesn’t glide down the hair, it’s just slightly sticky. There is some shine, but minimal. It smells good and you get a lot of product.The definition was just okay. All of my curls were not clumping together, I could see by the way some pieces of my hair were not fully curling that the gel was too heavy. The hold wasn’t good for me. Just because a gel is thick doesn’t mean the hold will last and I only got 2 days with this gel, and I could tell by day one that it was barely going to make it to day 2. My hair looked old by day 2.I like SheaMoisture products, I think this could be a good gel for some, to be fair it does state for THICK curly hair.

Love the smell! And as for effect, it does work. Only thing I’d say is don’t overuse. It doesn’t really leave hair with that stiffness, but if you use too much, it can. So use sparingly.But great brand, great smell. Would buy again.
