Awesome starter kit!
Iâm so glad I decided to try this sourdough proofing set! As a beginner, this kit made the whole process so much easier. The baskets are high-quality and just the right sizes for round loaves. The included digital scale is perfect for precise measurements, and the tools are sturdy and useful for shaping and scoring. I also love that the liners prevent sticking and are easy to clean. Versatile Bread Bowl Set
This bread bowl set is really nice. It comes with two bowl sizes, cloth covers, and a scale that is powered by two AAA batteries (I always prefer standard batteries vs coin-style ones). The bowls feel sturdy, and the extra tools are nice. They worked great to proof my crumpet dough in the oven. Sour dough is next on my list!To clean the bowls I wait for them to be fully dry, then use the included brush to get out any leftover flour between the crevices and lose bits. Definitely avoid soaking them.Overall, itâs a great, practical set!

I’m a longtime sourdough baker but this is my first set of proofing baskets- I’ve always made sandwich loaves, so I was excited to try the banneton method. I like the weight and shape of these, and the sizes are nice for small boule loaves. The liner prevents sticking and was easy to clean up. The scraper and accessories were an extra bonus and would make this a nice set to gift a new baker. I love the included scale for accuracy in measuring ingredients.

Donât bake in them
Iâve used the same sourdough recipe I have always used and was excited to be able to bake it right in the bannenton like it says you can do. Everything looked good going in oven. I added a bowl of water for steam since there was no cover. The oven was a bit lower since the heat tolerance is a lower temp. than Iâm used to baked bread in. After my usual time I checked and was so disappointed there was no nice rise and color was too pale but temp was 205. I baked longer to get the outside more color.They came out of the bannenton fine but it was all discolored looked like there were scorch marks. What a nightmare to clean. I soaked and scrubbed forever. Finally came clean enough and said never again will I bake in them. I will use for proofing but not baking. Back to my no fail Dutch oven.

Nice proofing baskets and tools, cheap scale
I received this Sourdough Bread Proofing Basket with Digital Scale and tools as a promotion; however, my opinions are my own, are honest, and unbiased. I make my reviews as if I purchased the item myself.Overall, this is a very nice set and is all you need for proofing sourdough bread. The round banneton baskets are of good quality and fitted nicely with liners. The dough scraper looks well made, though it has a wooden grip so I will treat it with board conditioner to protect it from water. The plastic looks fine and probably works well as a bowl scraper. It comes come with scoring device and blades which is nicer than using handheld razor blades! The cleaning brush is nice and stiff and it doesnât seem to shed bristles.Hereâs the rub, the digital scale that comes with this set is not what I call high quality. It seems perfectly serviceable, but is light weight and doesnât seem to be built durably. Itâs 0.1 gram off when compared to scales I have calibrated. Thatâs not a big deal, but Iâll be using one of my other scales and giving this one to a friend who is scaleless. So, thatâs a 1 star deduction.Iâve only used the smaller basket one. It worked well and the cleaning brush regally helped get the dry bits out. Times will tell whether it develops any smells. Eventually, they all do unless you are super careful! My last basket lasted years before needing replacement. I always place mine in the sun to thoroughly dry after using. Hopefully, these will last as well.For the cost, I think this is a worthwhile value since it would cost more to buy the items individually.
