Great beginner set
This has all the essentials needed to begin the sourdough journey. This includes the tools for the starter, baking, and even to slice the top for venting. The quality seems good for the silicone molds and just the whole kit is well put together. Instructions are limited so watch some videos. Otherwise great kit.

Perfect for Beginners
This sourdough starter kit is perfect for beginners. I recently started my sourdough journey, and this set had everything I needed to get up and running. The jar is just the right size and comes with a top cover and rubber bands to seal/mark the start levels. There are two different sizes of bowls that the bread and proof and bake in. They are easy to clean and very nice quality. Everything pictured is exactly what you get. The only thing it does not have is a general sourdough recipe, which is completely up to you to find.

Attractive Sourdough Kit with Starter Jar
I am new to sourdough baking, but this kit seems to be complete. It has a good selection of tools to support making sourdough bread. I really appreciate that it includes the jar for making the sourdough starter. This includes the thermometer, solid and cloth tops, and a band to mark the feeding time for the starter. The proofing baskets appear to be made of silicone rubber. It is nice that they collapse for storage. This set does not include instructions, but there are many instructions for making sourdough on the Internet. I donât know if the proofing baskets can handle high temperatures. The instructions that I found state that the baking is done in a Dutch oven, so the baskets wonât be exposed to high temperatures. I have started making the sourdough starter using my freshly-milled whole wheat flour. Let the adventure begin!

Good for a novice like me!
We’re just getting into sourdough and it seems like it can be a pretty complicated process. So, I decided to get a starter kit. I don’t know yet if I really need all the things in this kit or not. But, I’m glad to have them as I embark on the sourdough journey. I don’t have issues with the accuracy of the measurements like some other reviewers recommended. I am using an additional, large measuring cup with this kit, but if you’re baking you already have several most likely.

Jar isn’t accurately labeled! And other quality issues…
Update – Ordered 2nd jar (separately from diff. store) which was labeled 550ml. but looked identical to jar in this kit, labeled 650ml. Used Pyrex to determine which jar was accurate. Not this one! This is also a 550ml. jar, but the upper marking shows 650ml. Cannot make 1:1 comparisons when transferring/feeding starter from jar to jar. I’ll have to ignore markings and place it next to the other jar to check volume. Technically, you don’t need any markings if you are comfortable estimating percentage of rise using the bands, but I did want to record volume in ml. to track progress and it is a reasonable expectation that a jar labeled with measurements is accurately labeled. See pics. There’s enough janky stuff in this kit now to not recommend, plenty of other options on Amazon.Original Review:Wanted to try making sourdough for awhile now. This is called “complete breadmaking tool”, so ordered it. Researched what to do once it got here, and a 2nd jar is needed. Ordered another jar separately; I’m sure you can use any old mason jars but I want to keep things as consistent as possible since I’m new to this. Details -Good – The jar, danish whisk, metal bench scraper, the lame, and bread bag are nice.Not-so-good – Plastic cleaning brush unnecessary imo, and plastic bowl scrapers feel junky; would rather not have included these, don’t want more plastic garbage in the world. Just looks like cheap filler to make the kit seem like a better value, but I value reducing plastic waste far more. Pastry brush also a bit wimpy, and unless you are completely new to baking and decided to begin with sourdough, probably have [a better] one already.Neutral – Chose silicone because rattan baskets sound fussy to care for. The “bonnet” for the elongated basket is too small; difficult to put on and causes the sides to cave in as a result. I don’t think having dough in it will make it easier. Round one works better. Silicone is super floppy, which also makes using the bonnets a challenge. Some sort of metal ring inside to reinforce the edge would improve things.I take time to write honest reviews that I would find helpful, whether favorable or not. I’m not sure how the silicone baskets will perform yet, and just getting the starter going today, so 4 stars seems fair for my quibbles while still being excited to start using it.
