Calming Hemp Chews Can Help Dogâs Anxiety Issues
Iâve been trying out Strella Labâs CALMING HEMP CHEWS for a variety of situations, like stress and anxiety, that can affect my Yorkie and my four Chihuahua senior girl dogs, all who weigh between 5- to 8.5-pounds.One of my Chiâs, named Lilly, gets quite restless with a lot of unhappy vocalizing while traveling to the vet in her secured, open car seat. In addition, Lilly gets nervously anxious while seated on my lap in the vetâs lobby while waiting for her turn to get her yearly physical exam. She literally pants and âtalk-howlsâ with repetitive, loud âWah-Wah-Wahâ wails. In addition, she varies between trembling, pulling away, and then getting stiff as a board while having her nails periodically trimmed by the vetâs technicians.Last week, Lilly was scheduled for her yearly wellness exam, along with nail trims, so I gave her one of the CALMING HEMP CHEWS about a half-hour before we left for her vet visit. Much to my surprise, Lilly was much calmer and relaxed in her car seat while I transported her to the vetâs office. There was barely a sound of complaint. In the waiting room, Lilly was more relaxed than usual and just had several little whimpers. After we were in the exam room, I didnât tell the vet or the tech that I had given Lilly one of the CALMING HEMP CHEWS prior to the visit to see if they noticed any uninfluenced differences in Lillyâs demeanor⦠and they did notice!During her physical exam, Lilly was calm and chilled out with the vet. Then, the tech, who is familiar with Lillyâs anxiety issues, picked her up and carried her to a back room where she trimmed Lillyâs claws. When the tech handed her back to me she told me that Lilly was remarkably calmer and much more cooperative than she had been during her many previous nail trims. I was astounded that the Calming Chew had actually worked!I have also tried giving the Calming Chews, on a daily basis, to my four Chiâs and Yorkie who will often obsessively lick or chew their paws or exhibit signs of PTSD. Of note, my scratchy Yorkie, named MaMa Dawg, takes prescription Apoquel tablets every 12 hours for her itching allergies, plus four of my dogs, including MaMa, take an OTC allergy tablet every 12 hours for their respiratory allergies that are related to genetic tracheal collapse issues. All of my dogs are rescues that I adopted over the years, with several that came from a variety of difficult situations, such as hoarding, the death of their owner, or being dumped at a facility. What I did notice, after a few weeks of giving my dogs the Chews, was some decrease of their licking and/or paw chewing habits. That said, any relief that they can get is a plus.My packâs alpha dog is a tiny, but mighty, Chihuahua-Corgi mix, named Little Babe. She is a very out-spoken and persistent barker in the vetâs waiting room, to the point that we almost immediately get banished to an exam room so that the receptionists can hear clients calling on their telephone system. Yesterday, a half-hour before Babeâs yearly wellness vet visit, I gave this little 5-pound tornado a Calming Chew to see if it would reduce her ear-piercing barking in the vetâs lobby. In this particular case, the Chew did not reduce Babeâs barking because she wasnât anxious, she was simply a determinedly bossy brat-doggo who wanted every person and animal that entered the building to know that she was the Queen, present, and in charge. The CALMING HEMP CHEWS are heart shaped, which is cute, and my dogs all like their taste. Because the chews have Ginger in them, they could possibly help dogs with sensitive stomachs while traveling.Thereâs also a number of great, calming-effect types of familiar herbs that are included in the Chewâs formulation such as Valerian, Hemp Seed powder and oil, Chamomile, Passion Flower, L-Tryptophan, Melatonin, and Thiamine Mononitrate. However, be sure to read the disclaimers printed on the jarâs label that warns that the Chews have not yet been proven as safe for puppies under 12-weeks old, pregnant animals, or those intended for breeding.Thereâs also a printed caution with the concomitant (meaning concurrent with or something happening or existing at the same time) use with sedatives and MAO inhibitors (meaning monoamine oxidase inhibitors that are types of antidepressants), as well as a caution with using the Chews in conjunction with CNS (Central Nervous System) depressants. Of course, in these instances, consult with your vet first.Additionally, which should be common sense, do not give any Calming Chews prior to a dogâs sedation or anesthesia and the Chews are not meant for human consumption. Do note that the amount of Chews, that can be given every 12 hours, are based on a dogâs weight thatâs clearly stated on the label. And finally, be sure not to exceed the manufacturerâs recommended dosages.

UPDATE: Great company that stands by their product
UPDATE: Even though I was outside the refund window, the company gave me a refund. That is the level of professionalism and backing their product that we want. I have bought other products from this company and will continue to do so! I give them 4*s because this product was a one-star for me but the company is 5*!ORIGINAL REVIEW (1*): Sadly, I had tried giving these to my dog more than once. He did NOT like the smell or taste. They are cute with little heart shapes but rock hard (and are not expired). I have to crush them up in something he loves because it is the calming effect that we really want. I thought it was a coincidence in the past, but now I am sure these make my little Regi vomit. I am beyond the return window so it will be the trash for these. Please be careful if you try these. 🙁

Some improvements
I have a German shepherd golden retriever mix dog and she always barks like crazy when sheâs in the car. Sheâs okay on the highway but not the streets. I thought these would be able to calm her down a little bit but unfortunately they did not help her with car rides. However, she gets very barky when someone walks by our apartment door and after like 3 of these, I definitely seen her not be as reactive to people walking by. She was calmer and seemed more relaxed. Iâll give these to her from time to time but unfortunately they didnât do the job for the specific thing I was looking for to improve.

Highly Effective After roughly Twenty Minutes
A bit of a Long review, but I wanted to give background on my dogs and give my details about what other products I had used in combination with these wonderful Doggo Chewables!I have two dogs, one being my Spouse’s 30lb Corgi mix (Male, Raised from 5 months old), and mine being a 70lb Rednose Pitbull (Male, A rescue from about a year ago), both being nearly 5 years old. The Corgi Mix is generally timid and shy by nature and has been regularly exposed to other animals, favoring interactions with other male dogs. My Rednose is outgoing, however due to previous owners not socializing him properly he tries quickly establishing a pecking order and this has led to some close calls at the dog park, and I had quickly deduced that his outbursts were largely due to anxiety manifesting as a sort of dominance complex despite him being neutered. I had purchased these chewables in hopes that he could begin down a road towards socialization and run with the Good Boys of the Park, and they had worked well! After some testing and monitoring of dosages (Pay attention to weight/dosage ratios displayed on container), I found what worked for my dogs, which was to give them the treats as a reward for jumping into their assigned seats and allow the chewables to begin absorbing into their systems, and typically by the time we get to the dog park, or shortly after, my dogs were well-behaved and very relaxed when interacting with the other dogs there.Put plainly, my Corgi Mix had begun to open up and become more playful rather than being pensive and nervous when around so many other dogs. He needed no other assistance. My Rednose had become more patient with other dogs and began to allow for greetings and chases that were friendly in every way. However he often wears a harness (I recommend one with metal or MOLLE rings on it to prevent breakage from pulling) and a neon orange safety muzzle that still allowed him to drink and pant freely.

Misleading
The milligrams are per bottle not per pill and on the listing they have 2 different picture descriptions on it one says one thing and the other one says another. I would buy CBD oil instead of this.

My daughter’s little dog won’t eat these… spits it out unless I coat it in bacon grease. However, he is 15yo and he does seem to be walking better most days; He even has lots of energy at times.

Bought this to calm our puppy down, but didn’t calm her down at all, she’ still crazily energetic. I also gave it to our 4 yo golden lab. It smells horrible, I couldn’t bare to smell it, some might like it but I can’t stand it (smells like a mixture of mold with grass). Our puppy, willing to eat anything ate it, and our 4 yo isn’t exactly picky (though she dod hesitate when I first gave it to her) so I have no idea if it tastes good. After giving it to them they started scratching and I noticed hives and rashes on them. I just stopped giving it to them, hopefully the hives and rashes will go away asap. (Our 4yo tried hemp prpducts before but never experienced any reaction)Anyways… Didn’t work for us

These have been great for calming my dog when I leave the house. The only thing Iâve found is there seems to be a tolerance buildup. Not something you want to give them too often. Maybe once a week. Otherwise they donât seem to work well
