Great price and great cam
This was easy to set up, and the picture is great. At first when I was setting it up it had the feedback noises, but I put it in the dog’s room, went out of the room, it went away. So if your setting it up – just separate your device your watching on from the camera, problem solved. I also love that it has a dog bark alert! And it works. I think I’ll get another one. One small thing is it’s a little too top heavy, , but it’s a pretty great little device, with plenty of cord length.

The price, quality, no monthly bills, you can’t go wrong! Tiny investment & BIG bang for your buck.
I am NOT new (12 YEARS and TWO other brands) to the home camera arena for sure. I came to notice how many models of the Tapo’s there were. I then dove in and figured what was best for me. One of my criteria was that it didn’t force cloud storage and subscription service on you, an SD card would be all you need. It also had to have Motion and Sound detection, and higher resolution than what I was used to was an extra treat.I decided upon the indoor/outdoor Tapo C120’s knowing they would be for indoor use as all my others in the past were. This gives me an option to move any outdoors if I ever had a need. I use a couple of them, instead of being outdoors, on windowsills or on door glass pointing outside. So that you know, if you plan to use in this way, you can not have night vision on. You would get a glass reflection of the night vision sensors. This way has worked fine for me for every model in my past 12 year line-up, as long as there is a porch light, street light, entry door light, some kind of light you are fine.There were several incredible, unexpected surprises after I installed 4 of these. The image quality is amazing, super sharp and clear. The App is super fast and responsive compared to my old… You can easily and instantly swipe between cameras, or just as swiftly look at recorded events (alarms). You can even put the camera’s in grouped batches of 4-up on a screen together. The flexibility in mounting options make it super easy to put wherever you would like. I am amazed at the difference and how far the technology has come in such a short time. Oh and did I say the price is a fraction of all the other I purchased in the past ? I can buy four Tapo C120’s for the price of ONE of either of my old brands.Right now I am running all 4 Tapo’s remotely in another home and plan to purchase more for primary home and do away with my older inferior brand. My situation was kind of unique and I had some questions, so I reached out to Technical Support. I have to give a shout out to Cliff as my main Technical Support contact. The team went over and above any expectations I ever could imagine from a support standpoint.I have passed my knowledge onto friends and family about these, as you can’t beat these cameras all in all. The price point, the quality, no nagging monthly bills, you can’t go wrong ! Tiny investment with a huge bang for your buck. I am not writing this review for promotional purposes or any of the such…. I am writing it because when I come across a stand-out product and customer service together, I want to tell my story for others.

All-around best performer
I’ve used lots of different makes and models of security cameras. As of this review (Oct 2024), Tapo cameras are the best available in terms of price-performance. This particular model is a bit more expensive than Tapo’s indoor cameras, but still reasonable. The features are great. Super sharp image, even in complete darkness; very wide angle coverage; AI tracking of motion, people, vehicles is simple to configure and works surprisingly well; the magnetic base is super handy for mounting; the Tapo app and range of products makes it very convenient to manage lots of home automation from one app; video recordings can be stored on a micro SD card, so no need for cloud storage or subscription fees (although cloud storage is available as an option). I use this camera indoors, in my basement, to monitor furnace, water heater, water tank, etc. Works great.

Versatile, high quality monitoring camera
Works with the Tapo software, and can be easily integrated into other frameworks such as google home. Excellent picture quality. The software is versatile. For example you can mask out parts of the observed area ( privacy zones) . For example, one of my uses is to observe an LCD panel, which has some other , blinking lights around it, that I dont care about. I can just mask those out. Magnetic base. Runs on USB port supplied power. Wide angle lens, so it bends straight lines a bit in the image.

I have been looking for a security camera for pointing outside my house mainly for monitoring if anyone coming to the house (for delivery etc), any vehicle going to my drive way or park outside my house, and any pets (or racoon) wondering outside my house especially at night. The C120 is exactly what I am looking for.I’ve been using the tapo C120 for just one month and very happy with this product and the tech support. It got all the features I’ve looking for among different brands and models, picture quality is quite good day and night, live and recorded video very smooth, small foot print to be mounted on the window frame, flexible camera arm for pointing at the exact angle easily, very considerate magetic base plate and double side tape for simple installation without the need for drilling nor screwing.It has about 5 sec pre-recording when the motion is detected so you won’t miss anything right at the beginning of the moment the motion detected, multiple detect zone which so flexible that not confined to just rectangular shape like to older model, detection of person, vehicle and pets work just great, night vision is very clear without the need of infra red or spot light (especially useful when I put the camera behind the window pointing outside the house), quite happy with the motion detection response which is very fast (both day and night time).More important, technical support is very good, I found the recorded video is jerky a couple of times at the beginning of the video, contacted tech support with sample video sent to them, unexpectedly, they responsed the next day and even got a firmware update for me within a week and the problem seems resolved now, of course I will monitor the issue for the next couple of weeks to make sure it is really fixed (which I think it is), also tech support (Ian Xu) responses very fast with good follow up which is another star added.
