A great tarot book
This is one of the best tarot books I have read. This was a beautifully illustrated and wonderfully organized book that breaks down a tarot deck and the many ways you can interpret the cards. In this book, Squire provides information on the Major and Minor arcana by providing information about the ruling planet, zodiac signs, element, keywords for upright and reversals, and explain their meanings for both upright and reversals. Squire not only breaks down each card, but she also provides extremely helpful information about how to determine time with cards, numerology, answering Yes or No questions, the four elements, and planet correspondences.Squire also provides ways to journal with your tarot and how to use tarot cards in your spellwork. I am very interested in applying tarot cards to spellwork now. Overall, this is an absolutely wonderful beginner tarot book and I highly recommend it, especially since it has wonderful illustrated quick reference pages with each section.

Beautifully illustrated and very informative
I’ve been reading tarot for over 40 years. But I still like to refresh myself by ordering books on the subject. Tarot Magick is a wonderfully informative and beautifully illustrated book. One of the best I’ve read on the tarot. With descriptions of each card and even a few tarot rituals thrown in, it’s the perfect book for beginners and adepts alike.

Even as a secular reader, I really enjoyed this book.
(I’m in between 4 and 4.5 stars ^^; )Going into this book, I knew it was going to lean spiritual, but the number of five star reviews had me curious, so I decided to take a dive–and I absolutely do not regret it! Even as a secular reader, I really enjoyed this book. The author did a fantastic job describing the cards and giving information about tarot. I think it’s a very beginner friendly book, but also a book to check out just to see another reader’s interpretations. The book opens introducing tarot and some frequently asked questions, along with further information on choosing a deck, bonding and caring for it, how to start, various spiritual connections (astrology, colors, timing, planets, etc), numerology (useful for secular readers too, imo!), yes and no questions, and reversals. So definitely a lot to start with! The majors all had an original card artwork along with the card explanations. The minors only had card explanations with one graphical art element, not a full card. Each card has its name, ruling planet(s), zodiac sign(s), element(s), yes or no, key words upright and reversed, along with more details on the upright and reversed meanings, often containing symbolism meanings. I really liked the author’s interpretations of the cards, and appreciate that each had a couple options for meanings to try and be a catch-all. It was also nice to see the stereotypical ‘doom and gloom’ cards to have positive bits about them too. After the card explanations is a section discussing advice on setting up for readings, a list of 3 and 4 card spreads (really liked these!), the celtic cross (which interestingly had a different position meanings than I’m used to), spells and rituals, and recommended reading.I had a few nit-picks, however. But I wish the minors had accompanying card art, like the majors. (Without them, unless you know the RWS imagery, you’d either need a deck to use with the book or search up the cards online. Not difficult to do, but a little annoying.) In the ‘rituals’ section, several minors had card art shown, so I’m not sure why they weren’t included with the minors. I also thought it was random and strange for some pages/cards to have a white background and others black. It didn’t seem to serve a purpose and was just a little jarring when the colors inverted while I read. And some of the colored background pages’ text was hard to read, just not enough contrast between the text color and the background color. And for the ‘yes or no’ interpretations for the cards, well over half of them were a ‘yes’, which feels unbalanced to me. I don’t really do yes/no personally, but mentioning for those who do.For secular readers like myself, you won’t be using /all/ the information in this book, but I do think this one is worth looking at. You can totally read this from a secular perspective and be just fine. The explanations are easy to wrap your head around and I think the author did a great job getting all the information across. Definitely a book I wish I had had starting out.(I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.)

Perfect gift with a very thorough text.
My niece is currently very interested in Tarot and other concepts about Magick. When I was young, there were several years where I was just the same so she now has many of my original tarot decks and books, but I wanted to get her a concise and thorough text detailing the history and concepts well. This book does just that. The book is also nicely bound with high quality printing. Very easy to read with simple yet concise explanations that is perfect for someone trying to get the hang of it and who wants to expand their knowledge about it.

Amazing intro to tarot – includes correlations with astrology and numerology
Perfect for beginners or those that learned tarot without the magickal aspect. This is written from a witch’s perspective, and even if you don’t believe, I believe there is value you can take from this book. It explains common tarot spreads, tarot vs oracle, the symbolism on Rider-Waite-Smith style decks, what you should be asking when doing a reading, the importance of journaling, etc. For those that are witch-curious, there are spells included and info on how the cards are related to astrology and numerology, ways to connect with and care for your cards, etc.Very beautiful to look at – which definitely helps you want to keep turning pages. I will have to look to see if this author and illustrator have put out a deck together.Fun fact: the dust jacket doubles as a mat to do a 3 card spread, and it’s gorgeous.Very easy to find exactly what you are looking for. The top of the card specific pages are clearly labeled and have all of the keywords and connections each card has, and the main content of the page focuses on upright and reversed meanings. The info is easy to understand it help make the connection – it’s done better than some of the books included with my decks.Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn tarot.

Great Information
I have a tarot deck but didn’t have a book to help me read the cards. I got this book to help me read them. It is easy to read and I like the organization of the book. I’ve found it really useful when I’m using my cards. One of my favorite parts about the book is the amount of information in it, unlike other tarot books I’ve looked at. Great read!

I bought this to learn Tarot and not disappointed. A good introduction that has you develop an intimate relationship with the cards. Nice features like a book jacket that can work as a bookmark but the inside is a Tarot spread! Nice.

This is an excellent book for both tarot beginners and those with some experience. As well as covering how to choose, cleanse and bond with a tarot deck, the author discusses numerology, astrology, colours and symbols in relation to the cards. They also provide a good brief description of each card and some suggested spreads. All of this adds up to a comprehensive introduction which should give beginners confidence in their readings.I particularly liked the section on spells and rituals, which differs from other tarot books I have read.I was given an e-copy of the book to review, and thank the publisher and NetGalley for this. Although it is not easy to see on an e-copy, the book looks beautifully illustrated.I would recommend this to anyone interested in a brief but comprehensive introduction to the tarot.

A good source of information, regarding tarot. The lay out for the Major and Minor Arcana is nicely. I appreciate the information regarding the Zodiac signs and connections, as well as Numerology. Although Iâm not interested in that subject at the moment I appreciate the information was provided. The pictures are neat and unique, and I canât wait for the tarot deck in a month to arrive. The only downside is the pages they explain the tarot cards and the spreads are written in black with very dark backgrounds. I will need a flashlight just to read them. I will defiantly go back to this book for reference in the future. All in all it looks to be a good book. A nice size, itâs not too awkward to hold. Itâs a decent size. Iâd would have liked there to be the pictures of the corresponding Minor Arcana to be honest. If youâre interested in tarot, Iâd say try this book out as well as others.
