Germanic book of the dead
Finally a book that describes the meaning of the runes in a way that is comprehensible, culturally and historically. According to the sources, you can’t read anywhere that runes were used to “cast lots/divination) yet that’s the superficial explanation we’ve been drawn with, and today there are thousands of books that describe the runes precisely from this “foretelling” perspective.Marie Cachet’s perspective is more interesting in that it is based on the various runic poems that actually describe each individual rune, and which in this light together form a systematic system that describes our ancestors’ world view, from the cradle to the grave and back again.

A must have for anyone who wants to dive deep in the Runes.
If you are interested in ancient languages you will enjoy this book. If you are a Pagan you will really enjoy this book. If you are a fan of ancient languages and a Pagan you must have this book. While reading this book it became apparent that this book is explaining in a completely detailed manner the Norwegian Rune Poem. Marie also briefly explains other Runic Inscriptions. I have this poem committed to memory ever since Heilung released the song Norupo a few years back. To have it explained in such a thorough manner opened up another level of understanding I now have for this profound poem. I am very happy with my purchase of this book.

Sacred European Text
Summary: This is a Sacred Tome to awaken your ancient soul. Not an easy read, but a valuable read for European culture. It features impactful, stimulating illustrations that make me feel connected to the authorâs words.Suggestions : I found reading each Runeâs Chapter by itself useful, instead of digesting the entire book at once. The author often gives too many details, leaving me frustrated. While reading I need to ignore certain information to get to the main point. The explanations of the Runes help to understand the lives of the ancient European people.I think of the author as a Prophetess and Seer, one who can interpret the âold waysâ that have been silent too long. She impresses me with her knowledge and life skills. She maintains a family, a farm, speaks numerous languages and home schools her children all on a very small income, all of which makes me think she is very connected to her knowledge of the world as it is now and was a long time ago.Improvements â A pronunciation guide (or a link to one) would be helpful to pronounce foreign sounds. Knowing how to properly pronounce the Runes, and the Rune Poems would help me in connecting to them.

Best Writer On The Subject
Marie does a great job explaining things in this book. I really liked her last book and I think this one is at least on par (or even better) with her last. I appreciate her ability to think outside of the box and to perceive the symbols as a Pagan of long ago, not just as an academic exercise for todays latest fad. Too many academics approach these questions with a post-modern mind and it just doesnt work. This works. A must have for serious students of European Paganism.
