You’ve probably seen kinesiology tape, even if you didn’t know what it was. Often colored, strips of kinesiology tape are visible on swimmers, volleyball players, runners, basketball players, football players, soccer players, and others. Kinesiology tape is worn by athletes at all levels including the Olympics, the NFL, the NBA, the NCAA, and high school. In addition to its wide use in elite sports, kinesiology tape is also effective for everyday activities and can help people work, play, and reduce discomfort. Common application areas are neck, shoulder, lower back, knee, ankle, and foot. Research has proven kinesiology tape to be effective at supporting muscles and joints during activity. The most important difference between kinesiology tape and standard athletic tape is flexibility. Kinesiology tape provides support to body parts without immobilizing them or limiting their range of motion. New THERABAND Kinesiology Tape has two critical advantages over other kinesiology tapes. Because the application of kinesiology tape requires a measured amount of stretch, the exclusive THERABAND XactStretch visual elongations indicators are a breakthrough in ease of use and proper application. Every professional application indicates the prescribed amount of stretch but only THERABAND Kinesiology Tape provides an indicator of the stretch being applied. The 25% and 50% stretch indicators in THERABAND Kinesiology Tape allow you to easily apply the proper amount of tension to your tape application for the desired effect, whether that’s to reduce discomfort or support your muscles and joints. This allows experts and beginners to apply with confidence the first time, eliminating waste and hassle from improper application. It also features best in class adhesion from Cramer Products, a company with a 95 year legacy in sports medicine leadership and market leader in tape. Adhesive that sticks every time is critical for high performance athletes and others who play the sport of life. THERABAND Kinesiology Tape may be worn for up to five days.

No tape is better post injury!!
Iâve used this in the past and itâs simple to put on and very effective to protect yourself during recuperation for ankles, joints, etc!Yes, I had this wrapped and assessed (ruptured peroneous tendon, drat) by my podiatrist who was happy and impressed I had taped it. This tape helps during recovery because of the obvious accidental missteps we make even with the orthopedic boot on!!To put on the tape, just follow the directions of sticking some (~1â) on your skin, hold, then stretch until the last 1â that isnât stretched! And while Iâm very sensitive to tape/adhesive, this does not elicit any response and can go in the shower without coming off!!Enjoy and recover soon!!Cheers!

THERABAND Kinesiology Tape with XactStretch was a life saver!
I was using a walker while hopping on one foot and started having major shoulder issues until I could bear weight again. I asked my OT about “Kinesiology tape” and she applied some to try. Her brand helped but did not stay on very well. She trained me how to do it myself but I researched and got this well received tape instead. What a difference using this tape with her techniques! I redid the tape every 3-5 days as was advised since it loses its support after awhile. (One brand has to be changed daily, but this went at least 3 days for me until I’d feel discomfort again.) This tape eased my pain and prevented problems and lasted longer than another brand. I appreciated its high quality and it helped my long recuperation immensely. Way to go, Theraband! (I use their exercise bands too.) Great quality brand.

Way stickier than KT brand!
I’m very surprised to see all the reviews talking about it not sticking well.. this stuff STICKS! (Taking it off in the shower helps remove it fyi) I had tried the KT brand multiple times with no luck, it ALWAYS peeled and rolled up. This stuff only rolls on the edges on the rare occasion that I don’t rub it down well. In my experience, the trick is to give it a good rub after it’s applied so the heat activates the adhesive. I’ve kept it on for four days before without it getting messed up. (And I have a very active job)I also love the stretch indicators; I never knew before if I was stretching it the appropriate amount, and this helps me a lot.I highly recommend this brand – I don’t think I’d use any other!Picture is of 2 day old tape. You can see it’s fraying a tiny amount on the edge, but it doesn’t come off and I’ve never had it fray any more than what you can see in the picture. 🙂

Sticks Great, Could be a Little Cheaper
I used to use KT Extreme but it got to be very expensive since it only lasted 2-3 days before it became ineffective and peeled up too much. I can get 5-7 days with this tape before it starts to loose effectiveness and peels up beyond trimming. The only time it peels off early is when Iâve been walking in wet conditions and donât dry off my feet within a couple hours or so, KT Extreme would peel immediately, even before I was done walking.I use this primarily for ankle & arch pain but will also use it on my ribs, wrist and knees if Iâve really pushed my body. It wonât provide a bunch of support like a brace will, so if thatâs what you are looking for then get a brace. This provides a small amount of support but isnât made for that purpose, itâs made to reduce swelling and inflammation by drawing the surface of your skin up a tiny bit. I tend to under pronate/supinate and Iâve found that applying the tape starting about 1.5â below my small toe on the bottom of foot, wrap it to the inside (using 50-70% stretch) up through the arch, behind my heel (about 10% stretch), back around to the other side and then bring it to meet the tape thatâs near my arch works very well to slightly correct my gait. If I donât wear the tape I push off of my last three toes which causes severe pain. At least with the tape Iâm pushing off with the outside ball of my foot. Itâs still not ideal but itâs enough that I do t have the pain.I generally use a piece thatâs about 10.5-11â long and I would use 10â of KT for the same area. It doesnât stretch as much as KT brand but itâs also a touch thicker, which I find preferable. Iâve tried Rock Tape but that was way too thick and caused corns to form on my heel, even when I only stretched it just enough for it to form around the back of my heel. It stuck longer and did have a lot of support but it wasnât worth the trade off. I also couldnât use Rock on any other part of my body without having issues when I removed it.my skin is pretty sensitive to adhesives. So far this one hasnât given me any problems when I remove it, even when Iâve used it on a rib. KT Pro works fine for the rib area but I donât bother with it anymore since I can use this one for both and the price is pretty close to even with the Pro version. Pro will not stay on my foot for more a day before it peels off completely.Just a little tip on peeling, in case you didnât knowâ¦if an end starts peeling off when itâs wet you may be able to get it to stick back down while it dries. If not then just trim the end as close to the skin as possible. It wonât peel in a way that makes sharp ends, at least it never has for me, so Iâve never had it peel more due to straight edges. Make sure to cut a curve in the tape, otherwise that pointed end will catch on clothing and start to peel up early. The curve doesnât need to be pretty l, it just needs to curve. Itâs not for vanity, if you want it to look âcoolâ and follow the trend then just buy precut cheap stuffâ¦although it seems like a waste. I have met people who just wear it because their âheroâ sport star wears it, seems silly but there you have it.Overall I highly recommend this tape for its superior adhesive, that doesnât bother my sensitive skin, and for itâs great pain relief. The stretch shapes are super helpful for those starting out, but as time goes on you wonât need them anymore.

Better than the others
Iâve tried the original brand, drug store brands, and a few brands in between. I tried this one to see how it compares and it far outweighs the competition. The others: corners peel, stick about 3 days, bunchTHIS ONE: it stayed on my knee without peeling or fraying for two and a half weeks. That was with showers, gym workouts, and walks.I only removed it because I wanted to shave.Yes, itâs more expensive BUT I will buy this one every time.

Favorite
This is my favorite brand. Very adhesive, great stretch and support, great strip sizing, no smell and does not seem to hold odor (I typically try to get 3 days out of a taping and you can shower with this one) and fun colors. I love this one so much I should be a brand ambassador. I could write poems about it! I work in a restaurant 12+ hours a day and when I have a flare up (repetitive use arm issues and plantar fasciitis) some days I am held together with tape! Without it I am miserable but once I am taped up I can work a full day with minimal discomfort. Love this stuff!!!

Concept of setting degree of stretch is excellent, Adhesion poor
I love the concept of being able to tell how much stretch you are exerting. I’m not trained in this, had to search the Internet to find info on how to use the stretch feature, but once I did it was helpful. The adhesive is very weak. I’ve rubbed it, warmed it, rounded the edges, done everything suggested but it’s adhesion is poor. Often it doesn’t stay on longer than a few hours to a day, depending on the joint usage. If they corrected the adhesive this world be a great product.
