Very Good All Purpose Socks
The Thorlo XJ Max running crew is a great sock in my opinion. The are not too tight, I have wide feet and wide ankles so most socks tend to be too tight and small for me. These seem to have just the right amount of stretch and softness. The cushion is very useful too, if you’re a runner you’ll appreciate the extra cushion inside your running shoe. You may also like wearing them around the house to keep your feet warm. I’m in cold and damp Connecticut and house floors are quite cold but these Thorlo XY Max Running Crews are like wearing slipper socks. They’re comfortable, cushiony and durable. Yes durable, they seem to last me years of use before they lose their cushion and get holes. Good Stuff!

Fantastic socks
I have three people in my household who wear these every day and won’t wear anything else. They are expensive, but seem to hold up well to daily use and are easy to buy on Amazon subscription. If you are looking for comfortable socks and/or are picky about your socks, look no further. They are worth the money for us, hands down.

Better Comfort through Thicker Cushioning
Walk a lot. Run a bit. Needed something that works with Nike shoes for athletics and leather Oxford shoes at the office.I tried a lot of different socks.These Thorlo XJ maximum cushion black socks work great. Good as everyday socks. Black fits with leather shoes at the office and with black sneakers for athletics.P.S. The Thorlo website recommends using fabric softener to keep the springiness in the thick cushioning.UPDATE September 2022 – still excellent cushion and comfort!I replaced all my socks with Thorlo XJs at Thorlo’s December sale and wear them every day, wash mostly with fabric softener and after almost a year they’re as comfortable as the first time. Far better than cotton even on a hot day! For exercise on the hottest summer days, I use a made-in-China sock that’s very short, thin, has arch support elastic and some cushion. I wish there were a made-in-USA mini-sock that was as good – and I’ve tried a few. For hiking boots, I wear Thorlo XJ or Thorlo Wcxu Max Cushion 12 Hour Shift Crew Socks, which go higher up the ankle than the XJ’s and support the arch nicely with a stronger squeeze although they’re a bit too tight at the top.

Awesome socks!
I have purchased Thorlos socks for 12+ years. As a runner who uses light running shoes and needs cushion support on socks, I think these are great quality socks. I have many pairs now, ankle and crew lengths, and it has taken them many years to begin to wear offâand I am talking about using them for thousands of miles. The only thing I wish Thorlos would do is offer them in a greater variety of colors.

My Stock Sock
I have a dozen pairs of these socks, which have been my go-to athletic socks for 4 or 5 years. Perfect fit, extremely comfortable, so nicely padded I often wear them around the house without shoes, as slippers. My other new favorite is Bombas, but their design is very different, and I am keeping these Thorlos in the mix. I have always bought them sold and shipped from Amazon, and I wonder whether some or all of the one- or two-star rveiews result from people receiving inferior goods from other sellers or simply defective items, for which Amazon would refund the price without question. Oh well.
