Nice kit. Ideal for first time users who want to try out a straight razor.
This straight razor isn’t quite like the traditional old style straight razor that you see in old movies where it has a permanent blade that you sharpen and clean with the leather strap, but I consider this to be a great option for beginners like myself who want to learn how to use a straight razor without having to worry about seriously injuring myself due to inexperience. This razor uses replaceable derby blades that are kind of like single edged safety razor blades. They’re very inexpensive and should be replaced after every shave. You get a box of 100 with this kit so I consider it to be a very good value. The pictures of my face that I posted are after my very first use with this razor. I’ve had no prior instruction nor did I watch any videos. It’s kind of common sense which direction and angle to hold the blade. The handle itself seems well made and I like the bronze finish. This whole kit is definitely a bargain. If this is you first time using a straight razor like this, here’s a few tips:1) Wet your face with a hot towel or take a shower first to open up your pores and make the cut easier. Then use lotion or shaving cream.2) GO SLOW3) Take off small sections at a time. Don’t rush.4) Rinse the blade frequently5) Discard the blade immediately after use and use new blade for every shave.For the price and the quality of this kit I am very satisfied. This is a great gift for someone else or for yourself if you want to get started on using a straight razor.

First, I haven’t used a straight or safety razor in 20 yrs. Just wanted to try again. They both do an incredibly close shave. This is neither. This is a shavette. It’s half of a double edge safety blade in a straight razor handle. My 1st shave wasawesome. I expected a big learning curve. Not so. Use HOT moist towel to prep. A good oil rubbed in then cheap shaving cream so you can see where you are shaving. VERY short strokes to start. Start with cheeks. Neck and upper lips are tough.so anyway, go slow. Just My first shave I had a couple tight spots. Not The worst cut. Funny part was the stupid blister pack of all things,it gave me the worst cut. Lik a paper cut. Ha ha. Lubricate a lot take your time and you will love this. No $300 strops and $100 true straight razors. Ending – economic as can be. Just go easy. Once you advance to with grain then cross grain then against grain, you will be SO amazed. You can shave a balloon. MMM what a shave. 🙂

Purchased in May 2021. Still using it as of today. With how pricey razors and blades cost. This product is well worth it. I have a beard and mustache but shave my cheeks and neck frequent to keep a sharp clean looking beard.

The least ergonomic item I have ever held
Newbie straigh razor shaver here, hoping to get rid of razor burn. I get that this is a classic design of history and it fits the barber genre but that does not change my experience of using this item. After watching two dozen videos on how to use this, all information failed me on the way to hold this when getting the jawline shaved. Not a beginner friendly product nor does it include appropriate instructions on how to safely use it. I’ll check back in after another week or so of practice, hopefully the cuts become less painful.

I love using straight razors to shave my head and keep my beard trimmed up nice. But always hated the maintenance of a true straight blade. This works great, disposable blades are awesome. Nice weight and feel to the handle.
