Kept me warm!
I ordered this to use on a trip to Norway where temperatures got down to 4 F. It definitely came in handy for some of our excursions where we were in the cold for quite a bit of time (like reindeer sledding). So glad I got it!

Thick and Warm
This review is for the ZORBA Balaclava Ski Mask. It’s thicker than most I’ve owned. I think that is do to the fleece lining. So that makes warmer as well. It fits great under my ski helmet, I think my helmet actually fits a little better because of the extra thickness. The face covering has a nice breathable mesh style that allows your breath to go straight through. I did not have any issue with my goggles fogging up because how easy it is to breath through the face material. It’s normally priced and is a warm, quality made helmet liner. So I would recommend it.

Warm and functional!
I have a few multi-use gaiters, and those are usually so thin and cheap feeling. They’re also not very warm. This balaclava is so warm, yet extremely functional! My face gets extremely cold when hiking, snowboarding, and mountain biking. The biggest thing holding me back from buying a balaclava is, “how am I going to do my hair”, “what if I have to adjust my earbuds”, “I struggled breathing through masks during covid”. This balaclava solves all of those concerns! I also have a lot of thick hair and wear a size L in helmets. I do have to say, I feel like a ninja when I’m wearing this thing, LOL!

Way too big for my face, and material wasn’t comfortable
I have so many balaclavas (and have tried so many), it’s kind of ridiculous. This one is a better fit for a larger person or perhaps men! It was way too big for my face and I didn’t find the material or cut of it to be comfortable so I returned.

It’s like you never left the comfort of home.
I ride a bike, a street bike. I want to ride no matter the temperature. So even if it’s 35 degrees outside I can ride if I’m layered properly. And this little item is the icing on top of the cake when it comes to winter wear. You feel like you are bundled up in a comforter and ready to ride on a brisk winter night. It’s thermal protection is un rivaled with the fleece lining inside. It’s thick lining is just shy of stuffy in your helmet, snug but not too tight. It’s long enough to tuck into a sweat shirt or a high collared tunic and coupled with man-scarf around your neck it’ll protect you against 60 mph winds. So with a warm smile on my face I can say that I highly recommend this item for winter wear.

Too many folds and seams over ears when wearing under a helmet
If you plan to wear this under a helmet, my experience has been that the slots and overlapping layers on the ears makes it painful after only 30min when wearing a ski helmet over the top. The face shape is decent, with a slight curve that goes up and over your nose better than the straight ones, but since I have a nose flap on my ski goggles already I find the extra upwards protrusion to be uncomfortable when pulled down and sitting just under my nose.So if you are wearing this on its own with no other nose cover or tight hat / helmet, this might work for you but it didn’t work for me. I found a similar product with far fewer seams around the ears that is much more comfortable under a helmet.

Comfortable and Well Made Heavy Weight Balaclava
I wanted a balaclava with a mesh mouth/nose panel so that I could keep my face fully covered on those really cold ski and snowboard days. This will definitely do the job. Plusses are that itâs well made and comfortable, and gives great coverage without any gaps. The only possible negative is thatâs itâs quite thick â it might be too warm on some days.I tried breathing through the mesh panel and it restricts breathing a little less than the adjoining fleece material. It should allow air to get through and avoid some of the wet, frozen feel of breathing through the cloth. The balaclava also has openings by the ears (under the horizontal cloth panels) that can be used to route wires for ear buds, and there is also a slit in the back for a pony tail. The balaclava really fits comfortably: not too loose but not restrictive. And the seams across the top of the head where a helmet would rest are flat seams that donât stick up uncomfortably. Overall, itâs a really nice, heavy balaclava that should keep the face and head warm in very cold conditions.
